Analysis
To examine potential local and systemic risk factors associated with external cervical
resorption (ECR) using a case-control study design, and to determine whether both local and
systemic risk factors are associated with higher rates of ECR.
d)
Locate the information that identifies the
research question(s) and write a Research
Question
using the appropriate script presented in chapter 4 lecture.
"What are the potential local and systemic risk factors associated with external cervical
resorption (ECR), and are both types of risk factors associated with higher rates of ECR?"
Which local and systemic risk factors are associated with external cervical resorption (ECR)
among endodontic patients, and do these risk factors contribute to higher rates of ECR?
Additionally, what is the prevalence of ECR, and which specific risk factors are associated
with higher rates of ECR in different types of teeth and at different stages of progression?
e)
If appropriate to the research methodology, locate the hypothesis and indicate which format
that hypothesis is written in.
If there is no hypothesis, write one if appropriate.
The hypothesis for this study is stated in the introduction section of the article. It is written in
a simple format; The study hypothesis stating that both systemic and local risk factors were
associated with higher ECR rates was partly confirmed, as one systemic (diabetes) and one
local (trauma) risk factor were associated with higher ECR rates.
