Summative Assessment: Lesson Plan Assessment and Rubric
The summative assessment will address lesson plan assessment and a rubric. The summative
will identify an objective from week one. I will develop an appropriate assessment for the objective I have chosen. In addition, I will create a rubric. I will develop the rubric to make sure that the students can comprehend the expectations of the assignments.
Goal and Objective
The goal is to understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones. For example, 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones (K-5 Mathematics GSE, 2016). After learning this standard, the student will be able to recognize the place value of each digit in a three-digit number. The learning objective will be for students to understand whole numbers of relationships and place value, including grouping in tens and ones. According to Steinke & Fitch (2017), getting another source to assess students’ work can help to reduce the effects of bias in grading. I will not look at the student’s name when grading as well to help with not being biased. When grading the students, I would make sure to grade him/her as an individual. I will use a third-person point of view, make the assessment clear, and plan the assessment on evaluation skills. I will ensure that the appraisal is curriculum-based and not personal. The most common bias is confirmation. Research shows that confirmation bias is common and may not be intentional, but most teachers may judge a student on their work and behavior ethics. After researching and learning more on bias in the grading process, I will make sure to be fair and not stereotype my students because of their work ethics and how I feel about him/her. According to Teaching Commons (n.d.), confirmation is the most common bias we as teachers
