Program Evaluation Essay
Performing and/or conducting a needs assessment, the evaluator must be aware, must
have knowledge, and a clear understanding of the evaluation's definition and aim. The process of
identifying and addressing needs between the program's current condition and ideal situation is
known as a needs assessment. The gap between the current situation and the intended situation
must be measured to ascertain the program's necessity. The information in this essay will cover
the needs assessment for an AA program, including a tool that might be used to evaluate and/or
assess the program's effectiveness, an intervention that could evaluate and/or assess the program,
and a plan for implementing the suggestions and/or recommendations provided.
Needs Assessment
Many questions might be raised regarding or related to the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
program. What exactly is the purpose of AA, how many people utilize it, and how beneficial is
it? This particular program is being utilized by a large number of people throughout the United
States and around the world. Identifying guiding questions and goals, determining the population
that needs to be assessed, gathering data for the needs assessment, and analyzing and interpreting
the findings are just a few of the crucial components that make up a needs assessment. These
components enable me to evaluate the needs of the Alcoholics Anonymous program in my
neighborhood. The results of this assessment will make the program's needs clear. Based on the
12 steps used to help persons with alcoholism, guiding questions may be developed. The group's
objectives are developed by each member individually, and they can be as straightforward as
giving up alcohol for a single day. People with alcohol addictions would be the ones being
evaluated. The insights gained and/or gathered from the needs assessment could potentially be
utilized and /or implemented as reinforcement to strengthen the program or to demonstrate the
beneficial effects of AA. After gathering and collecting the data, I can determine whether the
program needs to be improved or if it is working effectively for those who are participating.
Outcome Measurement Tool
Due to the descriptive nature of qualitative data, it may be possible to approach, focus
and tackle Alcoholics Anonymous using this method. Due to the fact that these groups are
usually rather small, I would have the opportunity to speak with and /or interview each group
member separately or ask each person a few questions to learn about their experiences using the
application. This makes it possible to collect data directly from the program's participants. There
would be less opportunity for misunderstanding and problems with the data to develop. The fact
that membership numbers can fluctuate and some members' attendance might be less frequent is
one thing to keep in mind. Data collection and analysis must take this into account as it has the
potential to bias the results. Regular attendees should be the sole participants employed in this so
that the experiences are drawn from people who have had them over time. Someone who attends
less frequently might not have as much to offer.
Intervention
Cross lagged regression panel analysis was utilized as and/or functioned as the means
of intervention throughout this needs analysis. This particular form of panel analysis is a form of
analysis to characterize and/or describe underlying directionally or reciprocally influencing
interactions between variables throughout time (Allen, 2017). According to the findings of this
panel analysis, AA was effective in reducing alcohol usage. The findings also showed that if a
