Chapter 6 of the book overviews how to do academic research while in school. Chapter 6 gives a breakdown of each section. The section discusses digital literacy and ends with natural vs. controlled language searching information. In the introduction to chapter 6, the chapter explains how important it is to become familiar with specific databases for your program. After the introduction, the chapter discusses the different digit literacy resources you can use to help with research. Some of the chapter's digital literacy resources are scholarly and peer-reviewed. Chapter 6 also gives tips on how to search library databases properly and what are the next steps you should take.
After reading Chapter 8 from the APA style manual, I learned about in-text citations and paraphrasing. It gives tips on how to paraphrase. Chapter 8 lets you know how to summarize an article or passage using your own words without taking away from the main point of information. I learned about in-text citations after reading Chapter 8 from the APA style manual. It gives tips on using an in-text citation to give the author proper credit so it will not count as plagiarism. There are two types of in-text citation formats: parenthetical and narrative. A parenthetical is the author's name and the date the resources were published that will be in parenthesis. A narrative is when the author is a part of the text inside the sentence, and the year follows with parenthesis. When paraphrasing, be sure to use the correct type of in-text citation. After reading and better understanding in-text citations and the various types of research articles,
I will be confident in writing my paper.
