Report
According to Cox and Cohen (2011), ". . . the practice of science happens at the border between the known and the unknown" (slide 1). Science shows us how much we still need to learn because the more deeply we look, the more mysterious and breathtaking our world is shown to be. Science deepens the mystery of our existence and opens our eyes to the wonder and beauty of nature. Tyson (2004) stated, "Science depends on organized skepticism, that is, on continual, methodical doubting" (p. 17). Organized skepticism evaluates claims and beliefs based on the scientific method and critical thinking. It involves critically examining and questioning extraordinary claims or assumptions that lack scientific evidence––it encourages the use of reason, empirical evidence, and the scientific method to investigate and understand the natural world.         Methodical doubting is systematically doubting the entire research process to search for certainty. It's a conscious attempt to question or criticize every hypothesis and its reasons and methods, as this is the proper form of finding answers. The most scientific reason in Tyson's 'Response to Science' is to seize the scientific method as our best option for comprehending nature without additional ways to understand the universe. Methodical Naturalism is the search for scientific answers through a natural phenomenon. "Methodological version of Naturalism (MN), according to which science may only appeal to natural entities and processes "(Boucher, 2020, p. 58). Considering God as one of the unknowns or not having a God hypothesis doesn't erase God from the hypothesis. Yet, it is not the most influential research method, given that it needs a numeric value or a testing theory. "He is before all things, and in him, all things hold together" (NIV, Colossians, 1:17).   Reference Boucher, S. C. (2020).
