Preparing to Debate an Issue
The issues that have presented themselves within Case Study 2 is to determine if Royal
University is making an adequate decision to increase curricular focus, funding, and new hiring
for professional and technical fields; or should they maintain the fields and concentrations that
are set in place currently. Many stakeholders are involved in the institution and will be affected
due to the decision that is made.
Identifying Two Stakeholders and Explain Their Relevance to the Issue Described in the
Case Study
Two stakeholders I would like to talk about would be the students and the professors.
The students who would benefit from this decision would be the students who are interested in
the professional and technical fields. Those who would want to pursue careers that would be a

direct result from Rogal College supporting these fields. If funding is cut for the students who
are in the liberal arts education with a focus on humanities, these students would be affected.
Curriculum would not be updated and they would not receive the likely resources that they
would more than likely like to have.
Professors who teach in the liberal arts education with a focus on humanities would not
benefit from Rogal College increasing their funding to accommodate the professional and
technical fields. They in fact may lose funding and potential jobs with the shift that Rogal would
be making to support the professional and technical fields. On the other hand, supporting the
career and technical fields would bring more professors, which in return would allow for the
increase in recruitment of students at Rogal College.
Two Problems Associated with the Issue
Problems that may arise from the issue would include the college maintaining the
resources to support the students who are currently enrolled. If Rogal decides to push its main
focus to professional and technical fields, will the students who are currently enrolled with a
concentration in liberal arts education receive an adequate education to prepare them for their
careers after college? Another issue that may arise would include the loss of liberal arts
education funding that the college is currently receiving. If Rogal college decides to allocate
funding towards professional and technical careers, would they lose the funding that they
currently have?
Gaining a Better Understanding of the Issue
After looking over the case study, three questions that arise would be is it possible to split
the funding to support both aspects of curriculum that the school would like to have? Is there a
