Jetzabel Salazar May 25, 2023 Nuevo Leon, Mexico Culture Nuevo Leon, Mexico is one of the smartest states in Mexico and keeps improving the education with the years passing. Monterrey is the capital to Nuevo Leon and the third-largest city in Mexico. “Set in northeastern Mexico, Nuevo Leon borders the United States of Texas.” (Mike Nelson, August 2022) Nuevo Leon has a beautiful atmosphere and a lot to do outside and inside. There are more outside activities due to Nuevo Leon being surround around canyons, waterfalls, caves, and pine forests. People from Nuevo Leon value their families, religion, education, and business very personal and serious. Spanish and English are both spoken all thru out Nuevo Leon, especially in the major cities. Mexico has a beautiful culture full of vibrant colors, dance, music, food, art, religion, and way more. "Mexico's characteristics set it apart from other Spanish American nations. No other country among them has so actively traced its cultural origins [through] so dramatic a history to such deep roots; none has so thoroughly fused European and non-European cultural influences," wrote Peter Standish and Steven M. Bell in " Culture and customs of Mexico " (Greenwood, 2004). Mexico’s culture has evolved into an evolution of cities becoming bigger and adjusting the culture and smaller rural communities keeping the original traditions and cultures. The bigger cities of Mexico are evolving more into a more advance modern city. Technology has led the city to better evolution to keep up with to date with other countries. For the smaller countries, technology is not an objective for them; they prefer to keep everything one hundred percent authentic. For Nuevo Leon, Mexico it is claimed as one of the country’s illiteracies. “ The state of Nuevo León has a higher proportion of higher education students than the Mexican average.”
Jetzabel Salazar May 25, 2023 (José-Ginés Mora, Francisco Marmolejo, Vera Pavlakovich-Kochi November 2006) Spanish and English is easily able to be accessible to visitors and can be consider for those who live there to be their second language. In Nuevo Leon education system, it is required by law in most school, that students must take a foreign language class. English is the most common foreign language class that is available or selected by the students. They can start as early as elementary school with learning English. Since Nuevo Leon is more on the modern and evolved state, there will items that can be found with both languages. Nuevo Leon is the closes state to Texas and if people are eligible, they travel to Texas and do regular errands. People would visit to do their shopping, visit museums, restaurants, and all they place they can attend to. People who do travel tend to pick up English more due to Texas language being English. Mexico is very popular for its religion, more known for the Catholic religion. Also known for beautiful churches all Mexico. More than 80% of Mexico population identifies as catholic. "Much of Mexican culture revolves around religious values and the church, as well as the concept of family and inclusiveness,” ( Talia Wagner , January 2022) Catholic churches are founded all over Nuevo Leon, even in the small towns. There is nineteen churches best known in Nuevo Leon, located in Monterrey, Santiago, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Linares, Allende and Montemorelos. Catholicism isn’t just a religion for the population of Mexico, it can be part of their identity. The practice of Catholicism is to be passed down to generations and are born into the religion. It is a value to hold to the religion and to keep practicing the religion no matter where you are in life. It is a tradition to follow the catholic religion especially in Nuevo Leon because the people are surrounded with Catholicism. No matter what city or town you visit in Nuevo Leon, you will find catholic churches or items being sold in stores. It is really accessible, and door are always open for anybody.
Jetzabel Salazar May 25, 2023 Business was always shown to in the Nuevo Leon culture thru out the whole state, everybody can see it. From experience, both of my grandfathers were businessmen, and both were in different ways. My father's father was a businessman from a farm point of view. Their sources and income were based on the farm 24/7, there was no days off. For my mother's father he was a business owner, of a store and different properties. His sources and income would come from the renters rent and the sale income of the store. The belief was that dirty money is the worse money; you must work very hard in life to get what you want. Dirty money is money that would come to easy and there is something behind that money that isn't the legal way. Working hard I grew up watching my grandfather wake up extremely early to open the store and go to bed late for closing the store. It was always him opening and closing the store, you could see the dedication that was put into that store. Nuevo Leon is a state that never close, no matter the time you will usually find a business open. Everybody knew him because he always there, Nuevo Leon is always known to make business with all about who you know and how you communicate with people. “ Mexican business culture tends to value personal relationships, a strong hierarchy and a clear consciousness of status, according to Santander . "Doing business of any sort is normally preceded by a period of socializing," (Peter Standish and Steven M. Bell, 2004) My grandfather had a shy behavior but once you get to know him, he is very knowledge and has been put into difficult situations in life, and picked himself up from everything which made him to the man he is today. No matter the situation it was rare to see my grandfather in a bad behavior, he always positive mood no matter what. My grandfather spoke fluent Spanish and some English he picked up later in life when he built the store. My grandfather would come to the states to buy merchandise and sell it at his store. My grandfather would always tell his
