Teachers have an array of media options available to them that bring historical events to life in
their classroom and allow students to "experience" these events. Choose a historical event and
one appropriate media resource, explaining how the resource brings the historical topic to life.
Teaching historical events can be made easier with the use of media options. The
Media sources like the internet, newspapers, magazines, videos, etc. can help to get
into challenging subjects that not only get a conversation started but also allow our
students to make essential conclusions.
I can think of one historical event,
"How the First Americans Arrived." PBS
Learning Media shows this video.
The resource brings the historical topic to the
life
of how the first Americans arrived, Roughly 13,000 years ago through an "ice-
free corridor." The video shows they may have traveled by canoes along the coast
and rivers.
