Short Answer Assignment - The songs “Keep a-knockin’” by Milton Brown and “Blue Yodel No. 1 (T For Texas)” by Jimmie Rodgers are similar in the sense that they are both about a failing relationship, except Milton Brown is shutting himself off from everyone while Jimmie Rodgers is planning on shooting everyone. They are also the same in the way they repeat sentences throughout the song. I personally enjoyed Milton Brown’s song more. - An example of big band music is the song “Christopher Columbus” by Benny Goodman And His Orchestra. When looking for a song in the genre, I saw a lot of western swing music grouped with big band music, which makes me think that they are either one in the same or very similar. This can be heard in the way that both genres of music include a band and the general dancing nature of the songs. Christopher Columbus - It seems that Jimmie Rodgers was one of the first prominent country music singers and may be the reason he is considered the “Father of Country Music”. His song “Blue Yodel” sold over a million copies, so it is safe to say that he was a very successful country singer.
