CHILDREN AND THE WORLD SESSION 5
1.Where would you start in teaching children about “The World”
Children's daily life, their homes, families, other people, the local environment
and community, and the larger globe are all related to knowledge and
understanding of the world. Through various chances for play, activity, and
experience learning, as well as Children will participate in useful activities and
receive relevant lessons and experiences. These will entice them and enhance
their senses to encourage their curiosity about, and exploration of, their
surroundings. They will conduct research based on their interests and will grow
understanding of other people's opinions and ideas.
2. What activities would be good for teaching children about themselves?
The following are some of the ways that children learn through the process of
experiential learning, which is essential to good practice in early childhood
education, begins with the children's present or past experience, encourages
curiosity and exploratory play, gives children a chance to reflect on and draw
from their experiences, and requires children to question their learning
experiences by being taught specific skills directly, like how to use specialized
tools or measuring equipment by enabling children to communicate, interact,
and talk about what they want to do by making learning relevant to themselves,
their own lives, and the real world.
3.Give some ideas of how you would make children curious about “The World”
The following abilities can be acquired across the curriculum and are crucial for
this Area of Learning and make children curious about The World by
Observing, Grouping and sorting, Comparing, Sequencing, Classifying
Inquiring and responding to questions, Investigating, Looking at things,
Experimenting, Thinking, Listening, Problem-solving, Making decisions
4. What sort of activity centre could you set up in your childcare to encourage
children to participate?
The following are crucial regions and experiences that could be prepared for in
order to assist the development of children's abilities and understanding of
Places and people. Children who are familiar with their own home may talk
about it, make a model of it using construction tools, or sketch it. As they gain
more understanding of other modes of transportation, they may describe and
illustrate their commute to school. The local area can be explored on foot by
sequencing the trip through images, expressing preferences for specific making
a map of the neighbourhood with icons to indicate certain aspects, and learning
about the environment's attributes. with information and comprehension gleaned
from trips to their home region while contrasting and comparing locations like
the beach, town, or country.
Children can learn about distant countries, the
people who live there, the types of food produced, etc. through listening to
stories, looking at images, asking questions, and receiving answers. Children
will learn how a locality evolves and how people's behaviours result in a change
in the environment by watching how people go about their daily lives. Children
will play roles, be able to listen to visitors and question them about their roles,
record what they learn, and eventually move on to conducting a survey to find
out what jobs other kids would like to have when they grow up as their
knowledge of workplaces and roles in their community grows.
5.What is the worst thing do you think can happen to a child?
When a parent passes away, children often hold onto their idealised version of
them and rebel against the society that took their loved one from them.
Sometimes, out of a deep-seated longing, people end up following in their
footsteps. To feel closer to that loved one rather than to take their place. But
there is still a great deal of grief and resentment towards the world for taking
their loved one one day. Experiencing domestic abuse, drug or alcohol addiction
in a parent, or being physically or psychologically mistreated as a child are all
likely to cause stress in children as they get older. It's possible that experiencing
more than one of these situations will worsen the damage.
6.Of all the things you learn about the World what do you think is the most
useful?
The fact that everything in the world is diverse and relative enables us to
recognise how distinctive and equally fascinating each of us is. I've discovered a
lot about my personality and uniqueness by seeing myself in connection to
people from around the world.
7. What are you most grateful for?
I am thankful for my employment since it keeps me sane during these trying
times. My family and home are my foundation, and I am grateful for them. I am
appreciative of my pals because they keep me going. Finally, and most
significantly, I am thankful for myself since I am constantly trying to improve.
I'm grateful.
