Climate change is a topic that I have some first-hand experience with but only a little. I lived
roughly fifteen to twenty minutes from Mount Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona. Usually, during the
winter months, it is approximately fifteen degrees or higher; however, during 2021, the
temperature dropped between the low thirties and high twenties. As a result, they are causing
plant and animal life to receive adverse outcomes. In the past and on average, the temperatures in
winter can vary from the fifties to the seventies.
Looking through the humanities lens, we can view how climate change will affect the economy
if nothing is done and how it will affect the economy if we start researching more and changing
our habits. So, what can be done to mitigate or adapt to the economic effects of climate change?
Using the history lens, we know that climate change has drastically impacted the planet over
time and continues. It affects the environment and the societies of humans and other Earth
inhabitants. For example, if we look at past data of colder climates, we can see that they are
receiving higher temperatures resulting in less snow, but if we look past data at the warmer
climates, they are receiving lower temps with snow. What preventative measures can be taken to
allow live a better life for all on Earth?
Using the social science lens, we can develop plans to help restore or keep the climate where it is
if unable to fix it. One thing that does halt developing strategies to help restore or keep climate
change where it is at. Some have a political divide and believe in what their parties want to think.
Others look at the scientific facts, which are still divided; some view the facts as enough, while
others would like more. Can we all look at the facts we have currently and come to the
realization that climate change is happening?
Finally, using natural science, we can view primary and secondary sources to accumulate as
much data as possible by looking at past, present, and future data to help analyze the earth's
3
future and our society's future. Natural science also uses the scientific by testing and analyzing
positive and negative outcomes. For example, if sea levels rise, beaches will see erosion, and the
rate of flooding will likely increase. Could we use and filter the seawater to supply countries that
are in need?
Some keywords that could help explore my topic are climate change, global warming, sea levels,
marine climate, economy, mitigation, greenhouse gases, and fossil fuels.
Can we all look at the current facts and realize that climate change is happening, and can we
come together to do it? Yes, we can, but agreeing on the path will need more time than deciding
that climate change is real. “Al Gore became the personification of "Chicken Little" after his
documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth." This helped many people with coming to the realization
that climate change is real and happening. (Brenner, I. 2019)
What can be done to mitigate or adapt to the economic effects of climate change? When reading
the provided resource, adopting the economic impacts of climate change could be beneficial,
seeing that funding would be going into much technology for the better of humanity.

What preventative measures can be taken to allow live a better life for all on Earth? While
scanning the article,
Animals, Climate Change, and History,
it was mentioned that global
temperatures have changed.
(White, S. 2014) This has caused devastating outcomes for some
wildlife while opening us up to possible adverse effects. However, it also gave some excellent
references that I must dive deeper into for a complete answer. An example of one of the
references is “Elke Stehfest et al., "Climate Benefits of Changing Diet," Climatic Change 95
(2009): 83-102; Anthony J. McMichael et al., "Food, Livestock Production, Energy, Climate
Change, and Health," Lancet 370 (2007): 1253-63.”, even though this question was not

answered, I will look into the references listed in search of my answer as I have so far found
them to be very informative.
Could we use and filter the seawater to supply countries that are in need? Unfortunately, this
question was not answered. However, I did gain some knowledge of shellfish, such as spider
crabs and Marine climate change.
(Snyder et al, 2018)
I will be looking more into my inquiry and possibly rewording it. After looking for better
wording for my question, I will research scientific articles and projects that have been written or
taken place. If I still need to find an answer, I may have asked a question that is not meant for the
near future and will need to develop a new question.
