Topic 7 DQ 1
I believe that the administration is aware of the importance of the arts to students. Personally I think they are just going about it the wrong way. The children only receive one
45-minute class every week, but I enjoy that they have several resources to complete the work that the teacher requests. Students' creativity is aided by this, and you can see the looks on their faces when they produce something truly remarkable. In each lesson, students can choose to engage in "free art" activities such as playdough painting and drawing instead of completing the assignment. Conversely, educators have stated that they are not permitted to instruct kids in artistic subjects, such as portraiture or animal drawing. The students run the art room. I believe that at some point, students need guidance, therefore teaching them about the background of an artist and having them make a painting or craft inspired by that artist would be fantastic. For example, you could demonstrate how to draw a flower to the children and then let them design the colors and details. The two ought to be in balance. I believe that because the arts are predicated on creativity and self-expression, evaluating them can be difficult. However, it is impossible to effectively gauge students knowledge based just on what they have studied without first having them assessed. I believe that the best course of action in situations like this is to use real assessment. Students can demonstrate
their knowledge and be creative and expressive in these assessments. Any assessment that closely resembles the job completed by actual people in the real world is considered authentic
(Ruopp, 2019). Offering our students the option to select how they are evaluated is one method to support their creativity in expression while also evaluating the learning objectives. Giving the students instructions for their project, for instance, would allow the teacher to evaluate their knowledge, but the students would still be able to design the final product. Ruopp,S.
