Art Appreciation
Week 7 Comprehension Questions
Instructions
: After reviewing this week's resources, answer the questions below.
1)
How might the audience for prints versus paintings differ?
I think the audience for prints versus paintings can differ in terms of affordability as well as access. Prints would be more easily accessible as opposed to a painting that if were to be sold would more than likely go to someone with money or who has connections in the art world. 2)
How does the process of making prints versus paintings differ? What possibilities does this open up for artists and audiences?
Paintings are unique and straight from the artist to the canvas or whatever medium they have decided to use. For prints, it is essentially just making a copy of that painting. Prints would make it possible for that specific piece to have a broader audience.
3)
Prints were often used in the past to distribute images and ideas. What would you use today for the same purpose? How is this form of expression similar to prints?
We can still use prints to distribute images and ideas. I think something that has made artwork easily accessible would be the use of social media/the internet. Artists can use their platforms to
share their work. They can be similar in the sense that they can easily reach a wide audience.
