What was happening in the world at that time that influenced the artist’s work?  His father was killed in a duel in when David was 9 years old, and the boy was subsequently left by his mother to be raised by two uncles.  In the early years of the Revolution, David was a member of the extremist Jacobin group led by Maximilien de Robespierre, and he became an active, politically committed artist involved in a good deal of revolutionary propaganda  Elected to the National Convention in 1792, David voted for the execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.  https://www.biography.com/artist/jacques-louis-david .

What’s innovative about the artist’s work for that time period?  Was the first French painter to combine classical concepts with spatial accuracy and minimalistic compositions.  Was innovative bc he embraced Neoclassicism, a new artistic movement that sought inspiration from ancient Greece and Rome. He uses classical themes and styles to create powerful and emotionally charged paintings. His attention to detail and skillful use of light and shadow added a sense of realism to his works, making them stand out in the art world of his time. Romanticism- Joseph Wright 1. He became known for his skillful depiction of dramatic lighting effects, which added a sense of realism and depth to his artwork. Where did he or she create the majority of his or her work (if at a different location than this place of birth)?  Born in Bordeaux, France  Created the majority of her work in France.  She had a studio in Paris where she painted and studied animals. 3. What medium did the artist use? Did he or she use more than one main medium?  Worked with oil paint as her medium of choice. 4. Which art movement did the artist contribute to? If he or she contributed to more than one movement, where did this artist make the greatest impact?
