Your group will submit a 5–7-page paper detailing each of the sections of your classroom and their role in helping cultivate a safe and effective learning environment for young children. Use APA 7th edition formatting for this assignment. Math center The math center of the classroom should be an area that the children can go and play with
tools and toys that can expand on their number skills. The math center improves the sense of amount, spatial awareness, reasoning, communication, problem solving, and representation.
Children learn the concept of cause and effect and reasoning through math. Many other areas of development, including language and literacy, perceptual, fine, and gross motor, cognitive, and sensory abilities, can benefit from math instruction for kids. Through this enter the children can expand their math skills while still having fun. There should be manipulative toys here that make
the children think and learn while playing. When the math center is prepared correctly this can add to the children’s learning and creating a safe and fun learning environment for the children. Manipulative play center The manipulative play center allows the children to grow and develop their fine and gross
motor skills. Playing with manipulative toys helps children grow more aware of their own bodies
and concentrate on carrying out tasks without adult guidance or support. The development of fine
and perceptual motor skills improves the ability to maintain focus, regulate emotions and behavior, and plan and carry out simple actions like eating, unbuckling seatbelts, and pulling zippers, among other things. The manipulative center allows the children to play and engage in toys that make them use different skills to figure out and complete the tasks. This center can allow the children to engage in their curiosity with this learning style and continue to grow and develop. In this center, it should be more of a solo play area or with other children, and the teachers should watch more than engaging with the children. By doing so, you allow the children
to think through situations and develop problem solving skills.
Language and literacy center The language and literacy center promotes better communication and understanding between kids, teachers, and families. It promotes the children’s reading, writing, and listening skills in these young children. It also gives kids the chance to participate in outside interests and learn how to overcome obstacles. While this center does develop their reading and writing skills, this center allows the children to engage in communication and grow in this area. It allows the children to engage with their classmates but also their teachers and grow their language skills. There should be lots of varieties of books, puppets and listening materials, that the children can engage with to promote these skills. The educators should be around but not too hands on as the children need to explore in this area on their own. When they begin to struggle, that’s when we can step in and help push them in the right direction and help facilitate their learning.
