Written Assignment Unit 2
Greek and Roman architectural styles were widely adapted by architects and construction designers. The
Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome are two well-known Greek and Roman structures. These
are two old temples that date from several eras. The Parthenon was constructed in ancient Greece for
the goddess Athena, but the Pantheon was constructed in Rome to honor all of the Roman gods. The
Parthenon and Pantheon were built for quite distinct reasons and dates back around six centuries apart.
In fact, the essay does a good job of describing the similarities and distinctions between the Pantheon of
Rome and the Parthenon of ancient Greece. There were some inconsistencies in both the Pantheon and
the Parthenon temples. Ancient Greek civilization's Parthenon Temple and Roman civilization's Pantheon
Temple are examples of architecture that demonstrates the aesthetic value of creativity. The main
distinction between the Roman and Greek empires, which brought various architectural and historical
traditions over the world. Ancient shrines include the Parthenon and the Pantheon. The Pantheon's core
structure is straightforward and potent. A doric temple in the periphery is the Parthenon.
Due to the fact that both the Pantheon and the Parthenon were constructed using marble or limestone,
they share certain similarities, but "the Romans perfected the use of concrete in constructions, allowing
them to create more fluid structures" (ukessays, 2018). Both the Parthenon and the Pantheon were
initially intended to serve as temples, and the Pantheon has taken many exterior elements from classic
Greek temples like the Parthenon. Both structures support pediments with 8 columns. In the Middle
Ages, both were used as churches despite suffering both destruction and renovation. Although the
religious ties protected the Pantheon from stealing, numerous items from the Parthenon were taken.
Greek buildings were ugly on the inside, but Roman buildings were more attractive both inside and out.
The Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian classical orders were used to build these two temples. The Pantheon is
straightforward yet strong. The Pantheon features one of the best interiors ever constructed, according
to Dr. Paul A. Ranogajec (2015), and it has subsequently been imitated. It is a true feat of architecture.
In conclusion, the design, history, references, construction, and form of the Pantheon and the Parthenon
have influenced modern architecture. Ancient shrines include the Parthenon and the Pantheon.
