***Alphabetize sources by authors last name*** Works Cited Brown, S. C., et al. "Faster Ocean Warming Threatens Richest Areas of Marine Biodiversity." Global change biology , vol. 28, no. 19, 2022, pp. 5849- NaN, https://search.lib.byu.edu/byu/record/edsbyu.cmedm.35795987. This article compares past climate warming events to the modern days warming. These predictions show how the warming up of our atmosphere is going to majorly impact a vast range of species within the ocean. This paper does a great job of making comparisons to times of the past. This allows me to add a sense of urgency to my paper. This is actually an important topic worth talking about. Practically every other sentence in this article is a reference to a number of different works that have come to the same conclusion. Multiple studies have been done by different organizations and have come to a similar outcome. The use of many different articles can help to cement your topic as factual. If you include that what you are talking about is irrefutable, it will be harder for somebody to disagree with what you have to say. "Marine Life on Acid : Predicting Future Biodiversity in our Changing Oceans." BioScience , vol. 63, no. 5, 2013, pp. 322-
328, https://search.lib.byu.edu/byu/record/edsbyu.edsjsr.edsjsr.10.1525.bio.2013.63 .5.3. This article talks about a specific place that has had its water naturally acidified and procures evidences for what our world might look like in the future if we don’t act soon. This article will help me with what a possible outcome in the future might be. The information provided in here is wonderful at demonstrating the urgency of my topic. This work is published by a legitimate publisher. It is one of the older sources that I have, but it relays information that is still relevant today. Many of the topics and data found in this article are comparable to what we have today. This article doesn’t have a source cited at the end, but it does cite where it is getting its research from within the text itself. I personally don’t like this method, but I do see the value in just telling the reader right then and there where they can find additional information if their interest gets peaked. Peck, L. S. "Responding to Warming in Polar Oceans: A Commentary on Molina Et Al. (2022)." Global change biology , vol. 29, no. 1, 2023, pp. 5- NaN, https://search.lib.byu.edu/byu/record/edsbyu.cmedm.36196663.
This article talks about how diverse the arctic oceans are and the impact that warming climates are having on the organisms that live there. It talks in detail about how sensitive many of the animals that live there are to slight changes in temperature. This paper explains in great detail the impact that climate change is having on the ecosystem in a very specific part of the world. This can be applied to other principles that I will write about within my paper. This article follows the RUB acronym. It also displays all of its sources openly at the end which are more articles published by genuine institutions. As the author went through and wrote this article, they included bits and pieces of many different sources to help prove their point. They then included a reference to where the source could be found immediately after their quote. I think I can integrate a similar system of including where I am finding my sources. Rastelli, E., et al. "A High Biodiversity Mitigates the Impact of Ocean Acidification on Hard-Bottom Ecosystems." Scientific reports , vol. 10, no. 1, 2020, pp. 2948- NaN, https://search.lib.byu.edu/byu/record/edsbyu.cmedm.32076065. This article focuses on specific species of organisms such as corals, sponges, and macroalgae. The data found points out potential positives to an increase in acidification such as a larger host of microbes that otherwise wouldn’t be around in cooler waters. This source is a great counter argument. It talks about some of the potential benefits to warming the oceans. It also talks about the potential dangers of it to. This article can help me reach more of a middle ground on my topic.
