4-3 Milestone Two: Biological Concepts Outline
Global Warming/Climate Change

Biological Concepts: Level of Organization
The topic I chose for my final presentation is climate change/ global warming. This topic
is remarkably interesting to me because I am studying environmental science and by doing so it
has caught my attention how species are adapting and reproducing within the change of climate
all over the world. The ecosystem we live in should be important to everyone because we depend
on this physical world. Numerous ecosystems are impacted by climate change. Climate affects
how creatures behave, how plants and animals develop, which ones survive, and how they all
interact with the environment. The creatures that makeup ecosystems feel the consequences as
environments go through various variations in temperature, precipitation patterns, and other
factors. The effects of climate change are being felt in every U.S. region, although they vary
depending on the locality and ecology. Some species will modify their behavior, physical
attributes, or bodily functions to adapt to the changing climate. Others will not be able to change.
As a result, certain populations may experience growth, decline, or extinction due to climate
change. The total biodiversity of a region may be impacted by these changes. As a result of
shifting climatic circumstances, both plants and animals can alter the region that they live in. The
ranges of many plants and animals have already been modified by changing temperature and
water conditions. Some terrestrial animals have relocated an average of 3.8 miles northward
every decade as temperatures have risen in the United States. Several marine species have also
moved northward at a rate of more than 17 kilometers each decade (Climate Change Impacts on
Ecosystems | US EPA, 2022).
Therefore, climate change/ global warming can be a big issue for all living things in
diverse ways from plants struggling to survive and grow within their ecosystem but no longer
can due to the rising temperature or decrease. Animals cannot reproduce and adapt to the
ecosystem due to environmental changes or seeing species in the region that do not belong there,
but they migrate because of the environment they are in. Lastly even creating or exposing the
ecosystem to new bacteria, viruses, and illnesses to reappear that could even become deadly.
Biological Concepts Analysis
1.
Reproduction is among the most crucial biological ideas, which, in its broadest meaning,
refers to the act of creating a replica or a likeness to maintain a species' existence. The
more comprehensive definition of reproduction has far higher relevance for living
creatures, even though it is sometimes only thought of in terms of the generation of
offspring in animals and plants. This fact requires consideration of both the beginning of
life and the development of creatures. The capacity for self-replication of any simple
chemical system must have been one of the first traits of life that appeared in the early
universe (Bonner, 2019).
2.
Growth and development refer to the development of an organism from its earliest form
to its adulthood and maturity. These changes involve the shape, size, parts, and functions
of the individual organism over time.
Biological Concepts: Relationship to topic
Climate change/ global warming has a significant global effect. Biosystems are significantly
impacted by the climate. Adaptation to local climatic patterns is important for both survival and

Often overlooked in general discussions of terrestrial communities are the organisms that
live below ground. Soil communities can include various microbes such as archaea, bacteria,
fungi, algae, and protozoa, as well as a variety of microinvertebrates including springtails, mites,
nematodes, and earthworms. These organisms provide several ecological functions including
decomposing organic matter, fixing atmospheric nitrogen, and enriching the physical and
chemical conditions of soil.
used.
Pine forests tend to have a closed canopy of one or more pine species and relatively little
undergrowth. They benefit the most from well-drained sandy soils that are slightly acidic.
Common among the pines in the SE United States are loblolly pine and slash pine. The tough
pine needles that fall under the trees decompose very slowly and produce a thick mat, both of

Mr. Johnson is admitted to room 337 in an acute care facility. The nurse interviews the client to
determine the history of this illness, health history, and family history. The nurse then performs
the head-to-toe physical assessment. Mr. Johnson has complained of acute leg pain. The nurse
collects further data specifically regarding Mr. Johnson's leg pain.
The nurse checks Mr. Johnson's admission orders and notes medication is ordered as needed for
leg pain.

Describe 3 ways that you, as an individual, can help solve this climate crisis, reduce pollution and/or make our planet a safer, safer place to live, present and in the future. Your ideas may seem small or insignificant, but they are important. Every action counts! If we all do our part, we can help mitigate the dangerous effects of climate change.

Understanding the scale and impact of climate change is crucial for our survival and the health of our planet. As highlighted in the article “Climate emergency is the biggest health crisis of our time - bigger than Covid” by Pascal Soriot, the climate crisis is not only a threat to the environment but also to global health, making it even more urgent than the COVID-19 pandemic. The article stresses that immediate and radical action is necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as the effects of global heating are already causing irreversible damage to both ecosystems and human health.
The climate crisis has far-reaching consequences, including rising temperatures, which are linked to an increase in heat-related deaths. Soriot states that heat-related deaths are expected to triple by 2050, and already, 7 million people die annually due to air pollution. This staggering toll exceeds the death count from the entire COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, chronic diseases such as cancer are being…

Which statement is supported by both the text and the excerpt above?
All three penguin species, Chinstrap, Adelie, and Gentoo, live only on sea ice.
The food supply for Adelie penguins includes both fish and krill in the Antarctic seas.
Adelie penguins are dependent on the existence of sea ice for access to their food supply.
Temperatures in the Antarctic have increased substantially in the last 60 years.

Imagine that an Underground Storage Tank (UST) of a gas station in your neighborhood leaked and contaminated your area's groundwater. Most of the people in your neighborhood have private wells as their primary source of drinking water. This issue has become highly publicized, and residents need explicit action to reduce public health concerns related to harmful chemical exposure from the UST leak.
As a representative of a governmental agency post your initial ideas or points. Using supportive peer review literature review with similar scenarios around the world, it should be two paragraphs or 160 words on:
What is the source of contamination?
What were the primary pollutants?
Possible health impacts due to the contamination.

What activities are the governmental agencies conducting to address this issue?
