Team Building
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) hospital mission
is to reserve and optimize human life in South Carolina and beyond, the MUSC provides an interprofessional environment for learning, discovery, and healing through (1) education of healthcare professionals and biomedical scientists, (2) research in the health sciences, and (3) provision of comprehensive health care (MUSC, n.d. b).
Since March 1, 2023, the MUSC Orangeburg, has taken over management of all TRMC hospital
operations and related outpatient clinics (MUSC, n.d.). To support their mission the MUSC would like to create a virtual team to optimize better healthcare amongst all the MUSC-
Orangeburg hospital and outpatient clinics. To achieve this better healthcare, MUSC-Orangeburg
hospital has created a 10-panel virtual team. As one of the team members, I decided to conduct some research to find strategies for optimizing the effectiveness of the virtual team before the team begins work on the project.
Purpose
The MUSC-Orangeburg 10-panel virtual team’s main goal is to establish a reliable digital healthcare system that caters to the individual needs of both patients and their families throughout our community. The team will be categorized into two teams. These two teams will meet via Zoom every Thursday at two pm for the next ninety days. Team One will be Joseph, Ijahnae, and Raheim, and Team Two will be the other members on the panel list below. Team One has a large responsibility, they will create a proposal detailing a revised reliable digital healthcare system based on Team Two gathered data from community and state-wide surveys evaluating the digital system's potential use.

Potential problems that virtual teams typically face.
Working remotely can be less effective because of
communication
problems. Communication problems can occur when team members live in different time zones, and have language barriers, and sometimes the lack of in-person engagement can make communication challenging (Gregory, 2010).
It is more important than ever to cultivate
trust
among virtual team members. By doing so, you can guarantee that your project remains up-to-date and on track. Remember, trust is the foundation upon which successful collaborative efforts are built (Gregory, 2010). Building trust in a virtual setting can be a bit of a challenge. Cultural differences, long distances, and simply just not knowing your teammate might cause problems.
One of the biggest barriers to efficient team communication can be having a
poor internet connection.
Poor audio quality or the inability to log on might cause miscommunications and misunderstandings, which can escalate to more serious issues.

Syhoo Senior Center, a not-for-profit entity, enjoys the services of a group of high-school-age people who each agree to work three afternoons a week for three hours each afternoon performing a variety of patient-related services, such as writing letters for those who are unable to do so, delivering mail to the patient rooms, and pushing wheel-chair patients across the grounds. The services rendered by these young people enhance the quality of life for the residents. They could not be provided if they were not donated because there are not enough resources to do so. In year 2019, the young people donated 5,000 hours in total. The services would have cost $10.00 per hour if they had been purchased but they were worth $20 an hour to Syhoo Senior Center. A local CPA firm also donates its services to prepare the annual tax return and other federal and state required paperwork which must be filed to maintain its status as a tax-exempt organization. During 2019 the CPA firm provided 500…

Customers of an Australian Supermarket (Coles) have become locked in a fiery debate over the supermarket's self-service check out.
In a post to Facebook a Western Australian shopper uploaded a photo they snapped of the new look Coles cash registers. The new self-serve checkouts feature conveyor belts, which are traditionally seen at manned checkouts. There is also an illuminated "self-service" sign at the front of the conveyor belt and an area for shoppers to pay for their groceries and pack them. The new self-service checkouts are in addition to the regular self-service checkouts, which are designed for hand baskets (see image below).
The self-serve conveyor belt checkouts have divided Coles customers on social media, with hundreds sharing their opinions. A consumer said: " I don't work for Coles ... I want service." Said one more: "I'd also expect a discount for doing someone's job" ."Another said:…

Health and Safety Crisis Project Guyana There is a growing challenge in Guyana relative to adopting a health and safety culture. The management of safety issues and priorities has been the poorest in Guyana. Some public officers are forced to work in unsafe and unhealthy conditions such as mold, bat droppings and poor ergonomics. This has activated a person’s allergy, caused some people to develop hyper airway sensitivity and musculoskeletal disorder. Further, there have been ventilation issues and no running water. Some staff complained that they often have to fetch water in buckets to use the bathroom during work hours. This has been reported to management, but nothing has been done. When it comes to safety, in most cases, no one seems to make it a priority in the public sector. Some persons complained of tripping on smooth tiles, stairs and more. There are building regulations; however, not many follow these codes. Most ministry buildings are old and wooden. As it concerns the…
