Purpose of this assessment This assessment will develop your skills and knowledge required to apply workplace policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for self and others. This includes identifying work health and safety (WHS) hazards, assessing risk and following safety procedures in the workplace with minimal supervision. This unit applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team or group and working in liaison with other shift team members and the control room operator, as appropriate. This assessment will assess the following competencies: 1. Identify hazards and assess risk 2. Follow procedures for risk control 3. Follow emergency procedures 4. Participate in enhancement of safety 5. Work in accordance with WHS policies and procedures. 1B. What you are required to do For this assessment, you are required to complete 4 tasks: Task A – Knowledge questions Task B – Identify hazards, analyse risk and record controls Task C – Follow emergency procedures Task D – Participate in enhancement of safety Task A is a series of short answer questions that will test your understanding and knowledge of a working safely. Student Assessment Guide: MSMWHS200 Work Safely Over Tasks B, C and D, you will assist an organisation with identifying hazards and recording the risk controls, follow relevant procedures for emergency situations and participate in the enhancement of workplace safety. You may choose to base Tasks B, C and D on: a) The provided case study, OR b) Your own workplace NOTE: If you are using your own workplace, you must make sure you have access to relevant documentation and resources. This includes: A team that you work within Workplace policies, procedures, processes and systems relevant to managing WHS in the workplace. You will also be required to provide evidence of your work and other documentation as your progress through Tasks B-D. If you wish to use your own workplace, you must discuss this with your trainer before starting Tasks B-D. Make sure you receive approval from your trainer to use your own workplace. 1C. A note on plagiarism and referencing Plagiarism is a form of theft where the work, ideas, inventions etc. of other people are presented as your own.
