EAPS-327 Ruizhe Zhu, Davis Trujillo, Alex Richardson, Eve Pennington Decentralized Energy Distribution Post: As a group (1 post, please) compose a short post to. ddress the following: o What is your group's chosen topic? Decentralized energy distribution o What do you know about the topic so far? Decentralized energy distribution is when there is not one large power plant supplying energy to a region. Rather, it is more locally produced, usually in smaller, independent grids. There is potential to save power from transferring. Due to microeconomics, power sources are one of the few natural monopolies. This makes decentralized power systems difficult to make competitive. Some people think it is the future of energy distribution and some disagree. Having a centralized power plant to generate electricity requires a large battery, decentralizing energy distribution may help rid of these large batteries and help solve renewable energy battery size problems. The maintenance of individual power generating devices can be difficult. Paying for car batteries and storage. ( The upfront investment for renewable energy technologies can be significant and can become barrier for individuals to even start Decentralizing Energy Distribution) Different regions have distinct characteristics, so we do need to consider the feasibility based off whether the region has the right climate. o What main research questions, specific to your topic, do you want to answer? What are the advantages, and challenges to a D.E.D. network? What is the current progress of decentralizing energy distribution? How can it be made cheaper than centralized energy? What role can nuclear energy play? Should it be supplementary rather than primary? o What is your project's thesis statement?
While decentralized energy distribution may not be able to fully replace a centralized energy distribution center, it could significantly decrease a populations dependence on centralized energy production, by offsetting renewable energies dependence on energy storage innovation. * Replies: As a group, compose replies to at least three other groups. Select posts with no replies, so that every group gets feedback. In your reply, include: o Feedback on their thesis, including ways to strengthen the thesis statement to best meet the project guidelines. o Your thoughts on their research question or suggestions for other questions. o Any additional information you suggest that they research to support their topic.
