Assignment Rubric ( 100 Points) Synthesis of Concepts 60 Writing Standards - APA format 20 Timeliness 20 1. What is URL redirection? A URL redirection is a web server function that forwards or redirects a user. It's commonly used to fix broken or outdated links, create shorter, more user-friendly URLs, or redirect traffic from an old domain to a new one. If a user accesses a URL, the server responds with a redirect status code and the new destination URL, prompting the user's browser to go there. It allows web administrators to manage link structures efficiently and seamlessly guide users to the intended content or location. 2. Describe the different classes of IP addresses. The structure and numerical range of IP addresses determine what class they belong to. It's IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) or IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6). In IPv4, there are five classes: A, B, C, D, and E. The first three address hosts, the second addresses multicast groups, and the third addresses experiments. Basically, each class has a different range of IP addresses, and the size of the networks you can create within each class is determined by the number of network and host bits. Class A addresses have a first octet in the range of 1 to 126, so they can be used in a lot of networks. Class B addresses have a first octet between 128 and 191 and are good for medium-sized networks. Smaller networks use Class C addresses, which have a first octet between 192 and 223. In an effort to address the limitations of IPv4, IPv6 uses a different addressing scheme and provides a significantly larger pool of unique addresses. For a more extensive and efficient address space, IPv6 uses hexadecimal notation instead of traditional classes.
