2 FashionGo.net In 2015, I began exploring the idea of business ownership. I decided to take the leap to open my own e-Business that included selling clothing to customers after purchasing the items at wholesale from another e-Business named FashionGo.net. The three classifications dimensions along which e-Business scenarios can be classified include parties, objects, and time scopes, which all relate to the aspect dimension: BOAT (Business, Organization, Architecture, Technology). FashionGo.net uses these dimensions to run a complex website that hosts a wide variety of businesses available to different parties. Parties Dimension The party dimension describes the kind of parties engaging in the e-Business. The kind of parties that engage on FashionGo.net include Business-to-Business (B2B). Business-to-Business is a form of transaction between businesses, which includes involving a manufacturer and wholesaler or a wholesaler and a retailer (Chen 2022). In my situation, Fashiongo.net was a wholesale marketplace where I could access many wholesalers from one simple website, and as a retailer I could make purchases I would later resale a marked-up cost, retail price, on my virtual storefront and later ship the items straight to the customer. Objects Dimension The object dimension includes five basic e-business object classes to include: physical goods, digital goods, services, financial goods, and hybrid objects. Fashiongo.net specializes in offering physical goods which are tangible items physically exchanged between parties. These physical items are typically sold in bulk, which means they come in large quantities. If they were to sell straight to the customer, as my virtual storefront did, you would want to be selling a single item in a single size. FashionGo.net engages in B2B, thus allowing them to sell straight to a
3 business in a larger amount. For example, as a business, I would purchase 2 Small, 2 Medium, 2 Large in one product at a time. This gave my customers the option to choose a size to purchase from me. If a customer were to want to buy straight from Fashiongo.net, they wouldn’t want to, or be able to, because you are unable to purchase one singular item, only a pack (2/2/2) of items. This works for their business model which is designed to meet the needs of other businesses, not the customer. Time Scopes Dimension. There are four types of time scopes to include: static, semi-dynamic, dynamic, and ultra- dynamic. FashionGo.net falls within the dynamic time scope, based on the characteristics of a single e-business order and current market circumstances. For example, a business can purchase all they need at wholesale from their website, but they may choose to order somewhere else if they can find the same product at a cheaper price. The convenience of being able to order from multiple wholesalers on one website, FashionGo.net, is extremely convenient and where they may by these objects, but the competitor may ultimately earn the sale based on their market price. Conclusion Fashiongo.net uses the three classification dimensions to run a complex website that hosts a wide variety of businesses available to different parties, which all relate to the aspect dimension: BOAT (Business, Organization, Architecture, Technology). This business relates to the business aspect of BOAT by collaborating with other businesses on one platform to offer physical goods to other businesses to purchase. They also relate to the organization aspect of BOAT, due to the structure of their business model working to achieve the goal of creating that
