Ethics Policy Paper
Strong leaders are able to navigate moral and ethical dilemmas. There are alot of resources, that are available, while doing so. A great resource is the ACHE code of ethics. This document can best be used while making ethical decisions. Its purpose is to provide a universal standard, of dealing with ethical dilemmas. When applied properly, it gives a sense of enhanced decision-making.
Another valuable resource for a manger or administrator is the Bible. Having a biblical worldview, can help develop a strong moral compass. These tools are available when we need them. The following Code of Ethics was developed combining the two resources. Putting faith to
work in a gentle and kind way is the goal. These tools aid the administrator in setting forth values and helping to navigate tough moral/ethical dilemmas.
“Code of Ethics for a Healthcare Administrator.” 1) We should strive to be the best version of ourselves. Each team member should seek to
develop a strong moral compass. 2) We must have a strong commitment to ethics and creating a moral and ethical environment for others. We must remember that work place ethics, have a strong impact on day-
to-day operations. 3) If you see something wrong say something. We must not remain neutral in an unethical scenario. We must apply our faith and speak up. This can help steer the organization in a positive direction. This also contributes to a moral and ethical environment for all staff and patients.
3
4) Mandatory reporting of any violations. Any violations should be reported within 24 hours. This includes HIPPA, Fraud and abuse allegations, theft, or anything else that a team member may see. Keeping every one honest, ensures high quality care and great patient outcomes. 5) Always do your best. This ensures that the team stay in compliance with all laws and avoid any sever violations, some punishable by law, or even hefty fines. We are a team ther is no
“I” in team. It is everyone duty to ensure compliance.
6) Honesty and integrity must be used while making decisions. This ensures that we can navigate these issues, from the lens of being an honest person. This can give us a broader perspective when it is time to make a decision on a matter. Honesty and integrity are also the foundation to many Biblical principles. A healthcare administrator should display these traits to ensure a positive direction for their staff, and organization as a whole.
7) We can navigate, many dilemmas from using a Christian perspective. The Code of Ethics acts as a tool to aid in daily dilemmas. We can use it, in addition to morality, which aids in steering the direction of an organization.
8) Providing high quality care leads to better patient outcomes. We must remain consistent, while using best practices. 9) Confidentiality is critical to the overall success of an organization. This means avoiding any HIPPA violations, and taking the policies that surround confidentiality seriously.
10) We must respect the patients rights. Advocating for a patient is our moral and ethical duty. Even if we do not agree, they still have the right to choose.
11) Ensure fairness. Being a leader means that we bring people together. We should not seek to divide people.

The biggest scandal to hit Apple in recent years is undoubtedly the ‘batterymate’ of December 2017. This started when a Reddit user reported that a software update had reduced the performance of their iPhone but that this had corrected itself when they replaced the battery. This post led to a lot of press coverage, with some commentators suggesting that Apple was trying to force users to upgrade by deliberately slowing devices as they age. Tim Cook issued a statement on the matter a week after the news broke, confirming that the software was designed to throttle performance but claiming that the intent was only to prevent unexpected shutdowns, which could affect devices with older batteries. The company offered a discount on battery replacements as a gesture of goodwill for those affected.

Decision-related conflict frequently revolves around an ethical conundrum of some kind. The best way to handle ethical dilemmas, according to Carter McNamara, is to prevent them from occurring in the first place. That is why actions like creating codes of ethics and conduct are so crucial. Employees become more ethically aware as a result of their development, which also lowers the likelihood that unethical behaviour will ever take place.
