You may find it helpful to view the following training videos in Tableau prior to attempting this assignment. o Getting Started with Dashboards and Stories (4 mins) o Building a Dashboard (5 mins) o Dashboard Objects (4 mins) o Dashboard Formattin g (4 mins) Prior to completing this problem set , read Chapter 6 of “Storytelling with data” Problem 1: Complete Exercise 3.10. In addition to decluttering the chart, create a one-page PowerPoint visual highlighting any recommendations/insights you find. Do this in Excel. Remember to include the following components in your visual: Select an appropriate chart type Use titles that express clear takeaways Use color to connect narrative insights to the chart/graphs in the visual Declutter only keep visual elements that aid in information transfer Clearly label axes Problem 2: Complete Exercise 5.7. Use Tableau. Remember to prep the data appropriately. Problem 3: Complete Exercise 8.5. For ease of reference, I have reproduced the text of the exercise below. Imagine that you are Chief of Staff for the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at a large company. Your boss, the CMO, has asked you to work with your Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to understand what is driving attrition people leaving the company across the marketing organization and present your findings. Your HRBP digs into the data and emails you the visual below.
Spend some time familiarizing yourself with the graph and data it shows (the data is available in the Problem Set #2 workbook), and then complete the following. Reasons for Leaving a. What is being shown here? Write a few sentences explaining the data. Better yet: imagine you need to explain this graph to the CMO. Talk through how you would do so outloud, making assumptions as necessary for the purpose of this exercise. Is this data easy or complicated to talk through in its current form? Discuss this in a few sentences. b. What observations can you make from this data? Put three specific takeaways into words. Frame them as complete sentences. c. How might you visualize the data in order to make the explanation you outlined in part a more straightforward and one or more of the takeaways you outlined in part b quickly clear? Create your visual in Excel AND Tableau and then use Powerpoint OR a Tableau Story to share your recommendations.
