TA2 is made up of 2 parts: the Term Assignment 2 paper (20%) and the Swarm Deliverable (15%). This year TA2 focusses on fisheries, an example of common pool resources. Information is provided about fisheries and common pool resources in the Lecture 5 submodule. TA2 paper The paper must have the following structure (the parts should be clearly labelled as shown here): Part 1 Cover page: name and student number (5 points) Part 2 Fishery introduction: (30 points) Fish being studied (binomial and common name); fishery location; who has had access to the fishery over time; trends in the fish population over time; trends in the fish catch over time Part 3 Management of the fishery: (40 points) Management attempts over time; frequency of collapses of the fishery; missing Ostrom Principles and how they affected the fishery, state of the fishery today and into future Part 4 Reference List (10 points) Organization (15 points)
The Term Assignment 2 Paper is due on Friday March 18 at 11 PM. Papers received after Friday March 18 at 11:01 PM will receive the lateness penalty. About Organization/Presentation: - Word document only (other document types will not be graded) - Structure: 12-point font throughout; double-spaced throughout; paragraphs throughout - Referencing: In-text citations throughout with corresponding references in Reference List - Style: Clearly written, Well-organized, Logical, Edited throughout - References and citations. You are expected to adhere to the Purdue OWL instructions for APA style. Everything that is quoted or paraphrased needs an in-text citation and a corresponding reference. There are significant penalties for missing or incomplete refs/citations. - Structural errors like Parts out of order (-5 each) - Other errors (-3 each) - Unusual errors (determined on a case-by-case basis)
TSES 3002 2022 Swarm Deliverable The class has been divided into 4 swarms. You are in the swarm determined by the first letter of your last name as follows: Swarm A: A-F Swarm B: G-L Swarm C: M-R Swarm D: S-Z Each Swarm has been assigned a Discussion thread (for swarm communication) and a Locker (for data submission to the swarm) in Brightspace. These are only for use by your swarm. It is Ok to communicate using other tools like Discord, but your grade for the swarm deliverable will be based on the evidence of your activity in the group discussion and locker. The Swarm Deliverable is constructed from data provided by the members of the swarm. Each member is to create a template based on the content of their TA2 paper. Failure to submit a template to the swarm locker by the due date for the swarm deliverable (Monday March 28 11:00 PM) will result in a grade of zero for the swarm deliverable.

Swarm Deliverable Template Layout (must be as indicated here) Part 1: Cover page (name and student number) Part 2: Name of Fishery Part 3: Fish name (binomial and common name plus image) Part 4: Fishery Location (including map image) Part 5: History (including number of fishery collapses, numerical data on fish numbers and catch numbers in table form) Part 6: Attempts to manage declines/collapses (Strategies used, missing Ostrom Principles in table form), projected success/failure of fishery Part 7: References The template should contain all the required information, and it should be clearly presented. If someone submits a clearly presented, complete template that the swarm uses, they will receive the swarm deliverable grade. People who do not submit a template will receive a grade of zero. Failure of a swarm to use a template that is submitted on time will result is a lower swarm deliverable grade. You can submit your template to the swarm locker until March 28 at 11:00 PM. Late submissions may come in after the swarm has prepared its deliverable. In such cases, the submission will receive a significant penalty (-50). The swarm should inform its members (in the swarm discussion) when the last submission date and time is for receipt of submissions that will be used in the swarm deliverable.
The swarm deliverable is due Monday March 28 at 11:00 PM. It should be emailed to the instructor and the two TAs. Only one copy of the swarm deliverable is to be submitted per swarm. If a swarm submits more than one submission, only the first submission will be graded.
