Business Strategy
A business strategy is vital to a company’s or business success. A business strategy is the
foundation of how your business will operate and what will be done to ensure success. This helps
business owners appoint people to fulfill specific tasks so they all eventually meet to satisfy the
business's goals or mission. Business strategy typically consists of; cost, quality, distribution,
technology, and intellectual property (Hutcheson N.D.).
Importance of HRM
The human resource management function plays an important role in business. This function is
used for hiring, training, and ensuring all laws and policies are followed within the business.
Human resource management is important for employees because this is the first impression of
the business or company. The HRM is responsible for interviewing, hiring, employee paperwork,
placement, employee training, and in some instances, paychecks as well. Human resource
management is equally essential to the business or company's labor relations. The HRM is
responsible for ensuring laws are followed and policies within the business or company are also
observed. HR Leadership Strategies
One leadership strategy that human resources will use for conflict management is diagnostic
questions and active listening. It is better to ask open-ended questions when following through
2
with diagnostic questions. This way, you do not get only a yes or no answer. Instead, you allow
the employee to answer the question entirely. One leadership strategy that human resources will
use for communication improvement is understanding different communication styles (Post
University 2020). People come from different backgrounds and geographical locations, and it’s
imperative to understand and be comfortable with everyone having a different communication
style. One leadership strategy that human resources will use for employee motivation is to provide
constructive criticism and positive feedback when necessary (Post University 2020). However,
when dealing with constructive criticism, you must ensure you offer feedback properly. Finally,
one leadership strategy that human resources will use for behavior improvement is not just one
thing. It is a list of things to do collectively. To improve or promote healthy workplace behavior,
you must work as a team, have collective goals, communicate effectively, train, and reward good
behavior (Wellspace N.D.).
Leadership Strategy Effectiveness
The way you can measure the effectiveness of the leadership strategies chosen above is to
observe how behaviors and moods change. Another thing to keep an eye out for is to see if there
are any changes to work efficiency as well. This will truly show how well all the strategies are
working or even show you if they are not working. Some things may need continuance and
brushing up on as time passes by. 3
