MBA 540: Executive Summary Maurice Drewry Southern New Hampshire University MBA 540: Organizational Strategy in Global Environment Professor Jeff Portsche January 7, 2023
Purpose Due to market and systemic risks, today's economy is highly diverse and constantly changing. Many of today's business executives take a more strategic approach to short-term and long-term planning by creating an executive summary of the business. An executive summary is a company report that analyzes, draws conclusions, and summarizes an actionable process for a business problem. For example, the pandemic would severely strain the auto industry by directly impacting the supply chain and logistics, and executives and management would devise an executive summary to reduce or eliminate loss of profits. Toyota Motors conducts a quarterly survey encompassing all employee levels, genders, age range 20-50 Plus, and employee tenure. When reviewing Toyota's quarterly employee survey, I noticed some alarming trends that need analysis and rectification to maintain happy and productive employees. Currently, many of the workers are suffering from burnout or high levels of work-related and personal stress. Results The employee survey will analyze four different topics and may be separated by gender and age to provide specific details, making it more plausible and how to proceed. The first question on the survey would ask, "What is your current level of burnout at work? Surprisingly, the women feel pretty wiped out compared to their male counterparts. There is a 3.5 to 1 ratio of women to men who feel wiped out at work with a total of 21 females and 6 males.
The next question would be, "How stressed are you at home?" I would analyze the male age group to see what I can discover. Unlike the previous question, I want to know whose stress is low with the ups and downs at home. The data shows that 34 men aged 50+ are experiencing "A little stress that would be expected with the ups and downs of life" compared to males from the other age groups. Now, I pose a question to leadership to understand their level of appreciation for their job. The question is, "I love what I do?" In a surprising turn of events, the directors love what they do the most, with eight people strongly agreeing. The individual contributors, managers, and executives each have five people who strongly agree that they love their jobs. The data may result from some internal issue that hinders more people from strongly agreeing to love their jobs.

The final question is geared toward figuring out if employees are feeling burnt out at work. We asked men and women with five-plus years of tenure, "I feel great! Energy to spare?" In this question, I was looking for the lowest number, which indicates that the group may experience the highest level of work burnout. The data shows that females with five-plus years of tenure only have one person who feels excellent, while the men have three people. Unfortunately, neither group is fairing at work, which may be due to stretch goals, lack of employees, or workload. Recommendations Based on the employee survey results, implementing a SMART action plan would be the best. It requires total participation by all parties (leadership, management, employees) to achieve the company's predetermined goals. The plan should include a wellness program, a reduced work schedule, and management training. Communication is one of the most essential skills of a leader, and there is a lack of basic connection skills. Additionally, observing, analyzing, and listening to subordinates who are currently highly burnt out at work is part of a leader's job. You can't command commitment; you have to inspire it (Kouzes, J. M., & Posner, B. Z.,2017). They say, "Rome was built in a day," and the same goes for executing this plan to improve employee
relations. Furthermore, every incremental charge will have a long-lasting effect, improving employee morale and the survey results.
