To: Managers, First line Supervisor From: Human Resources Department Internal Memo: CapraTek Employee Engagement Overview Date: November 8, 2022 Introduction / Employee Engagement At CapraTek, employees believe that their job should be more than a place of work and it is somewhere that they will spend a minimum of forty hours a week. Managers and HR professionals are responsible for ensuring employee engagement throughout the employee life cycle within the organization. The organization's managers are the business's most valuable resource, the people, so even the slightest negative influences could have a significant impact. A part of anticipating these needs is knowledge of employee engagement and the Gallup model of the employee life cycle. Presently, the senior leadership team at CapraTek views employee engagement as poor. Some examples are when supervisors and managers are disconnected from their subordinates—leaving some to be seen as insensitive to their direct report's professional wants and aspirations. The Stages of the Employee Life Cycle There are seven stages in the Gallop model, attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and separation. Gaining attraction from candidates through recruitment sites is the first step. Talking about the companies benefits, success, opportunities, values, and more to their candidates. Next is recruitment, the business will need to be specific on what they are offering Downloaded by Tralisha Johnson (tjohnson911@capellauniversity.edu) lOMoARcPSD|19208135

and looking for from a candidate. Development is a stage where professional development starts to kick in, which should be promoted and supported by their direct supervisor. The final stage of the employee life cycle process is separation, conducting a proper exit interview can help with gathering feedback. Theories of Motivation Motivation theories can help with CapraTek’s situation, incentive theory, need, competence, expectancy, and hierarchy of needs. The best one for CapraTek would most likely be McClelland's need theory; here, this theory supports the most needs people have and help managers identify their employee's needs. With this, management can use motivation theories to boost employee retention rates, and employee satisfaction through the employees needs for power and achievement. Data Collection Tools / Ideal State Some of the different tools that would be used can be, interviews, random and anonymous surveys, focus groups, and more. HR and the senior leadership could work diligently to revamp their front-line supervisors and managers. The changes within the leadership team should be notified immediately as these new methods and tools are implemented across the organization. Employee engagement from the leadership should be the focus; if not, we can quickly weed out those who should not be in a leadership role. With these new processes, the frustrations should diminish, and employee performance and engagement should improve. Ideally, CapraTek employees should see an increase in chances of professional development as well as the employees being recognized.
