3-1 Milestone One: Establishing the Foundation The limited accessibility of mental health treatment is a prominent issue that has been recognized as a key obstacle inside the American healthcare system. The study topic that motivates more investigation pertains to the many obstacles hindering persons in the United States from obtaining prompt access to mental health care. This study examines the complex topic of hurdles that impede persons in the United States from getting mental health treatments in a timely manner, a matter of significant significance in the field of healthcare management. The author's objective is to effectively elucidate the intricate nature of mental health care accessibility and its impact on the overall welfare of the populace. The limited availability of adequate mental healthcare can be attributed to various factors, including the prevalence of private insurance, the policies governing mental health coverage within private insurance plans, the specific insurance coverage chosen by individuals, the absence of medical insurance, and a lack of information regarding how to access mental health treatment. Redhead (2003) asserts that private health insurance firms often provide restricted coverage for mental illnesses in comparison to other physical health conditions. Throughout history, health plans have implemented reduced annual or lifetime financial caps on mental health coverage. Additionally, they have restricted the treatment options available for mental health illnesses by limiting the number of hospital days and outpatient office visits covered. Furthermore, health plans have increased the financial burden on individuals seeking psychological treatment by raising deductibles in order and copayments. The absence of parity, which refers to the same treatment or equivalent in insurance coverage, may be attributed, at least in part, to the concerns of carriers. The diagnosis of mental diseases poses challenges, while mental health treatment is characterized by its high cost and limited efficacy. 1
3-1 Milestone One: Establishing the Foundation Pear (2001) states that the Senate's recent passage of a measure to enhance health insurance coverage for mental illness has generated a vigorous lobbying effort on Capitol Hill, as advocates for the mentally ill strive to eliminate treatment constraints. The objective of the act is to achieve what proponents refer to as insurance parity, which entails the removal of prevalent restrictions on the provision of treatment for different types of mental disorders. B:Present the aim of the integrated review in an aim statement: The primary objective of University Hospital Newark, New Jersey is to effectively mitigate obstacles that hinder individuals from promptly getting mental health treatments. One potential avenue for promoting community well-being is the enhancement of access to mental health services. 3. Enhance the efficacy of our psychological solutions. 4. Promote policy modifications aimed at enhancing the welfare of our local community and extending their positive impact to a broader scope. 5. Advocate for the enhancement of inclusion and equality within the healthcare sector. C: The aim statement The research question that guides the study is: "What are the various obstacles that hinder individuals in the United States from obtaining mental health services in a timely manner?" The inquiry at hand pertains to the demographic of persons residing in the United States, specifically addressing the impediments encountered in accessing mental health services. The ultimate 2
3-1 Milestone One: Establishing the Foundation objective is to ensure prompt and timely availability of such services. This well-defined scope establishes the foundation for the research endeavor. According to Dr. Brian Hasselfeld, the associate medical director for digital health innovations at John Hopkins, healthcare companies are already extending their telehealth choices and offering virtual visits in response to the COVID-19 pandemic (John Hopkins, 2022). The healthcare delivery system is generally seen as beneficial by a majority of patients due to its ability to reduce the financial burden associated with traveling to and from medical visits. Furthermore, virtual visits have the advantage of convenience and increased flexibility, making them more accessible for those with hectic schedules. Telehealth, also known as telemedicine, enables healthcare providers to provide treatment to patients without requiring them to physically visit a healthcare facility. The use of telehealth has been suggested as a potential solution to address the logistical challenges related to performing medication reviews in a prompt and effective manner, especially in rural and isolated areas (Hanjani, 2020). Another emerging phenomenon in the healthcare industry is the integration of electronic medical records. The use of medical records facilitates the seamless flow of patient information among different healthcare providers. This method facilitates the collection and storage of data, enabling the tracking of health trends on an individual patient basis. 2: PICO Guiding Research Question: The PICO framework is widely acknowledged and often used as a platform for formulating research questions. The research study has four fundamental components, namely population, intervention, comparison, and result. The study's target group consists of persons living in the United States who need mental health care services. The intervention being 3
