The example that I will be using for the discussion will be a purchase made between companies that are related to my current position in athletics. 1. What was being traded and with whom i.e., country and or company? The item being traded was a Team Mate Hydration Station, which is a battery-powered watering station that is used by athletes participating in outdoor sporting events and practices. This trade took place between two companies, Tarkington ISD who was purchasing the item, and Henry Schein Medical Supplies who was selling the item. 1. Describe any difficulties or obstacles within the supply chain. If there were difficulties or obstacles, what caused these challenges? The obstacles that occurred during this trade would be having to get bids from multiple companies for like items before deciding who to purchase from. There are multiple watering stations with different features sold for similar prices from different companies. The features that had to be taken into consideration were things like how many gallons of water each station held, how many hoses were running off of the tank, how it was powered (battery, solar, continuous flow, etc.), how long would shipping take, and of course what were the price differences from each company. Ultimately, the decision came down to a combination of price including shipping as well as the length of time it would take for the item to arrive. 1. Who do you think is the winner or the loser of trade agreements? I think in this case the winner of trade agreements would be the larger companies. They can sell items at a lower price, discount shipping, and offer other benefits that smaller businesses cannot. Larger companies have access to more financial resources, repeat business, and larger quantities of goods than a small business does. This allows them to sell the same goods that a smaller company sells but at a lower price. (Quain, 2019). References: Quain, S. (2019, February 5). The advantages of expanding business .
