“How do the connections between drug trafficking and other crimes (including terrorism)
increase the threat of drug trafficking to national security”?
The brutal attacks on September 11
th
, 2001, involving our country opens our eyes to a new view on just how terrorist groups and the use of drug trafficking are used in order to benefit each other’s needs. Because of the attacks that happened law enforcement has pushed their resources and attention towards counter-terrorism activities. Both terrorism and crime cannot help but be linked together. We have seen both international and domestic terrorist groups working with one another by committing crimes that will end up funding terrorist activities. We have seen a vast number of crimes being conducted to include things like smuggling contraband, cybercrime, trafficking drugs and weapons, kidnapping, armed robbery, extortion, smuggling illegal aliens, and of course corruption with governments. The criminal mindset that is linking them to terrorism to include the illegal movement of drugs is why our federal, state, and local federal law enforcement agencies are so crucial in the fight to eliminate terrorism across the globe. These organizations make up what seems like an army of professionals that are dedicated to fighting the war against terrorism. We can say the success of our Joint Terrorism Task Force is
mainly due to the never-failing commitment of our citizens and our country (Testimony). Over the years we have seen organizations from different countries that are involved with the trafficking of drugs. There are a few countries that stick out that are affecting the nations national
security and drug policies to include Mexico, Afghanistan, Iran, and Colombia. From these countries there are a few different organizations that really stick out and one that comes to mind are the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. This group has been associated with drug trafficking throughout Colombia and they have been associated with Al-Qaida and Sunni extremists conducting drug trafficking operations. The groups that can really affect the U.S. the
more than anyone is the Los Zetas along with the deadly group Hezbollah. The Los Zetas has been known to take part in money laundering, trading people, and the illegal trade of drugs and weapons. This group was created out of a particular group of Mexican soldiers from the Mexican
Special Ops group that were chosen from the Grupo Aeromovil de Fuerzas Especiales (GAFES) soldiers. These soldiers had been originally trained in American military schools located on Fort Moore, Georgia and received special operations training from countries like the U.S., France, and Israel. The main focus of their mission was counterterrorism and the seizure of all local drug traffickers. Los Zetas has power in 6 different Mexican states and constantly creates problems for the government in northeastern Tamaulipas. Many people have viewed the strength of Los Zetas as being just as strong as their own government. Throughout many years now there has been immigrants making their way to Mexico from Lebanon. Since back in 2005 it has noted that Iran and Hezbollah have been creating their presence in Latin America by opening over a dozen cultural centers and froing relationships with
Mexican drug cartels. There are over 200,000 immigrants coming out of countries like Syria and Lebanon residing in Mexico many of which are illegally there and most have established a life there with the help of Los Zetas. There are those who show favor in the Islamic extremists cause and make perfect recruits for them. This is mainly because they actually comprehend just how the illegal drug activities being conducted have the ability to weaken the power of the United States. We can see that with and influence of Hezbollah and Iran trying to win over acceptance in
the minds of the local populace. Although this may seem like peaceful actions there is still the underlining fact that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard and Qud Forces are teaming up Mexican drug cartels in order to meet their own needs. We have seen these groups beginning to make attempts to blend in by learning Spanish and the Mexican culture. Hezbollah has areas to conduct

The Equifax Data Breach
In 2017, from mid-May to July, hackers gained unauthorized access to servers used by Equifax, a major credit reporting agency, and accessed the personal information of nearly one-half the U.S. population.9 Equifax executives sold off nearly $2 million of company stock they owned after finding out about the hack in late July, weeks before it was publicly announced on September 7, 2017, in potential violation of insider trading rules. The company’s shares fell nearly 14 percent after the announcement, but few expect Equifax managers to be held liable for their mistakes, face any regulatory discipline, or pay any penalties for profiting from their actions. To make amends to customers and clients in the aftermath of the hack, the company offered free credit monitoring and identity-theft protection. On September 15, 2017, the company’s chief information officer and chief of security retired. On September 26, 2017, the CEO resigned, days before he was to testify…

Integrity, Objectivity, and Ethics in Business Loan Loss Woes
During the economic crisis of 2008, many of the largest U.S. banks were accused of
having provided mortgages to marginally qualified borrowers. Such loans, called
"sub-prime" and "Alt-A" loans, were made to earn mortgage fees. When the
borrowers were unable to pay their mortgages, the banks incurred large losses on
defaulted loans. These losses were so large that the U.S. government had to provide
money (TARP funds) to many banks to bail them out of their financial distress.
During the middle of the crisis, the FASB voted to provide banks more flexibility in applying fair value
accounting for bank assets, such as defaulted loans. These FASB rule changes allowed banks to
minimize the impact of their defaulted loan write-downs and improve their earnings. Some criticized
the FASB as succumbing to political pressure and reducing overall financial statement fairness.

Introduction
Summary of case
Based on the case, the prison service is an example of the complexity of stakeholder requirements, as it must carry out conflicting activities to ensure the safety of society and provide a regime that will punish wrongdoers as a means of payment for their crimes. The principal stakeholders and their requirements are as follows: government ministers, prison governors, prison officers, offenders, families of offenders, and members of society. The relationships between these stakeholder groups are often complex, as politicians ultimately report to those who elect them, and prison governors may feel that they must satisfy the demands of the current party in power, which may be at odds with the requirements of other groups.
A stakeholder is a party that has an interest in a company and can either affect or be affected by the business (Fernando, 2023). The primary stakeholders in the article above are government ministers responsible for the prison…

CASE 1
Ethics in Business: A Perspective
Malaysia held its 13th general election on 5 May 2013. The event was a referendum of sorts; chief
among them was corruption.
The issue of corruption – or the lack of notable, ingrained outcomes in eradicating corruption from
within the public and private sectors – has raised much contention and ire among Malaysians. Some
may argue that it is the main topic discussed by all ethnic groups in both urban and rural areas across
the country.
What is hindering the fight to eradicate corruption? Here are some questions to ponder:
Has the relationship between the public and private sectors become too blurred that
certain practices – which may be deemed outright violation to sound business practice – have
become a norm in parts of the world? Has Malaysia fallen prey to this blurring of the lines?
Are emerging and high growth markets, in the quest for development or in keeping up
with developed countries, responding too slowly to weeding out corruption?…
