10. Peroxi ntent in Teeth itener. Purpose/Objectives: This lab aimed to determine the concentration of peroxide in a teeth whitener, learn the concept of equivalence, and learn how to use a burette. Our community topic for this lab could be considered health because teeth whitener directly correlates to teeth health. Experimental Methods: In this lab, we followed pages 65-67 in our lab manual [1]. We did not change anything in this lab and had no trouble completing the lab directly based on the lab manual. Results: Data Table for Peroxide Content in Teeth Whiteners Trial Initial Final Difference | Teeth Initial Color Final Volume Volume (mL) whitener Color (mL) (mL) (2) 0 (scout) |OmL 16 mL 16 mL 588¢g Clear/colorless | Light brown/ tan 1 0 mL 14.5 mL 14.5 mL 570 g Clear/colorless | Light brown/ tan 2 0 mL 16.5 mL 16.5 mL 552¢ Clear/colorless | Dark tan/ brown 3 0 mL 18.5 mL 18.5 mL 544 ¢ Clear/colorless | Dark tan/ brown Discussion: Part A: Problems to Solve for Report Trial #1: The amount of moles of MnO,” = 0.0000725 mol MnO, The number of moles of H,0, = 0.000018125 mol H,0, The number of grams of H,0, = 0.0061654 g H,0, _0.005mol K Mn04 1L x14.5x 1000mL = 0.0000725 mol Mn0O4
