Module 11 Writing Assignment
A relatively important decision I made a few months ago was to go full time at work. I have been a part time customer service manager (CSM) since around November but in March, one of the full time CSMs retired and my managers asked me if
I wanted to take her place. I declined and decided to stay part time but it was not an easy decision to make. The biggest thing I thought about was how I would balance school, work, and my other responsibilities but I also thought about the pay raise I would
be getting. It would have been hard to balance everything but the pay would have tremendously helped me out financially. Looking at the reflective-thinking method, in the “define the problem” stage, I would have asked myself “Will I be able to balance everything without stressing myself out or making my mental health decline?” Then in the “analyzing the problem” stage, I would have asked myself “Even though I want to help my managers and coworkers out, is it worth the risk of hurting my mental health?” In the “establish criteria for solutions” stage, I would have weighed out the pros and cons of the situation. After that, in the “generate potential solutions” stage, I would brainstorm my solutions. Lastly in the “select the best solution” stage, I would choose what I thought would be best for me because above all, I believe you should always do what is best for you.
