Communicating In Online and Physical Learning
Specific Purpose Statement:
This presentation will inform my audience about which learning is more effective in communication: online learning or physical classroom learning?
EX: Many of us were able to experience both styles of learning before and when COVID and social distancing happened.
I. Introduction
A. Many students had to undergo changes from physical classroom learning to online learning when COVID hit. How did it affect communication?
1. I will discuss the pros and cons of communication in physical learning.
2. I will discuss the pros and cons of communication in online learning.
3. I will discuss both online and physical learning communication and which one is more effective.
Transition: Is there better communication when a student is learning in the classroom or from their home?
B. When COVID began, it wasn’t a choice for the students to transfer from physical to online, so it created a lot of problems with their communication and learning.

3.
Students can physically go up to the teacher and get an answer right away.
Transition: Next, I will discuss the communication within online learning.
III. Online learning offers increased flexibility and accessibility, but it also presents several challenges, including potential technical issues and lack of face-to-face interaction.
A. Supporting evidence for your information (weakest)
1. “
The results showed significantly higher discussion participation patterns for the Internet-based course (both by class section and by gender) and no
significant differences in learning in either class section” (Arbaugh, 2000).
2. It is very flexible for the students to complete their work on time and have more room to work one-on-one with their online mentors.
3. There can be issues with the internet in homes that can cause absences and failed grades because a student was unable to access their course for the day.
Transition: Now, I will discuss how both online and physical learning has effective communication, but it can be different for every student.
IV. While both online and physical learning offer effective communication methods, the effectiveness of each mode of learning largely depends on the specific needs and
