What is UDL? Universal Design for Learning also known as UDL is “a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn”(CAST, 2024). Each and every student learns differently and at their own pace. Students will also have their own individual learning styles. By implementing UDL, students are able to learn in their own unique way and have their learning needs met.
How does UDL address the needs of all students? Appropriate Goals (Defined): “By facilitating the design and implementation of a flexible, responsive curriculum, UDL offers options for how information is presented, how students respond or demonstrate their knowledge and skills, and how students are engaged in learning” (Ralabate, 2011). Curriculum Barriers (Evaluation): Students will come with different diverse needs in means to required support or instructional tools that will assist them in comprehending information learned/participating in the learning process.
UDL Guidelines Engagement To strive in motivation, it is imperative that teachers used a variety of methods to accomodate learning differences. Representation To meet the needs of all students, it is imperative that teachers accomodate for the different learning styles. Action & Expression All students are able to demonstrate his/her own learning
