Discussion 3-1
As you read the article
Communications in the Workplace
, make connections between the concepts presented and your own experiences. Share a workplace experience you have had that relates to the concepts presented in the article. What barriers to communication were at play in the scenario (e.g., different perceptions of a situation, filtering, language, jargon and ambiguity, cultural and gender differences)? Support your post with concepts from the article and your textbook.
In responses to your peers' posts, discuss specific techniques (e.g., active listening, disclosure, feedback) that could be used to remove the communication barriers and improve interpersonal communication in the workplaces described by your peers. Use specific examples to support your
assessment and explain how this technique would help remove the barrier to communication.

Hi Class
One Common barrier that I had in the workplace I worked in was active listening and body language. As within the reading active listening is an approach to improving communication where the receiver of the message tried to better understand the message being transmitted (Wienclaw, 2021). Working as a Revenue agent you have to actively listen to the taxpayer when they are describing their business, internal control, how they deposit the cash they receive from
transactions and how other transactions without cash are recorded within their accounting system, that they reported on the tax return. Using active listening you can continue to ask more questions to get a better understanding and to probe more to see if the taxpayer is being consistent with what they have told you. Also, while you are actively listening to the taxpayer, you will have to also use another concept which is body language. Body language is communication of thoughts using postures, gestures facial expression etc. to reinforce or contradict the verbal message given (Wienclaw, 2021). This can be very difficult when you first start at the job because you probably haven’t questioned a person in this manger to gain information and use active listening and body language to learn that they taxpayer may be hiding something information or just out giving nonfactual information that was reported on their business tax return. Uncovering this information using their barriers and concepts can help the taxpayer because they could have incorrectly input information on the taxpayer that could help them or if could uncover income that was not reported on the tax return, making them have an additional tax liability.
