FINAL PROJECT MILESTONE ONE 2 SCENARIO I am a case manager that works with recently released inmates. Bobbi Jo is my client who has been released from prison after being in prison for nine years. Bobbi Jo is currently residing in a sober living halfway house that is in a city she does not know because she has never lived here before. The closest family members that are involved with Bobbi Jo live four hours away. Presently, Bobbi Jo’s three children reside with their father who is doing methamphetamine and heroine. Bobbi Jo does not have any work experience and does not have a driver’s license, which makes getting employment much more difficult. Bobbi Jo is having a tough time fitting in with society. Bobbi Jo has recently stated that she would like to receive medication services and mental health counseling. Bobbi Jo has a history of trauma from sexual abuse growing up, substance abuse, and domestic violence with her children’s father. Bobbi Jo is required to continue reporting to her parole officer every two weeks, participate in Narcotics Anonymous meetings weekly, receive mental health counseling, along with paying her fine fees every month. Bobbi Jo cannot contact the father of her children because of his current drug usage and because of this she can only have little contact with her children as she does not want to relapse into using drugs again. Bobbi Jo knows that with her present responsibilities, she is vulnerable to relapse. CLIENT NEEDS Bobbi Jo needs to contact mental health services in the area she is reading in as counseling and medication are part of her parole and receiving these resources with assist her with learning how to cope with daily stress and other coping skills. TRAUMA Bobbi Jo has a history of trauma in the home done by her stepfather while growing up with him and her biological mother. Bobbi Jop also has a history of abusive relationships with the father of her children and other prior relationships. When anyone goes to prison, it is traumatizing for the individual just as Bobbi Jo has and includes the trauma of being released into society after her incarceration. Bobbi Jo has had a tough time with authority figures since her incarceration and has panic attacks when put into similar situations and groups of people. Bobbi Jo states that she did drugs to self medicate herself from the trauma received while growing up and did not have any positive coping mechanisms. Bobbi Jo wants to visit her children, but there is also the factor that she is quite scared of her children’s father. Bobbi Jo is dealing with heartache from missing her children as she has not seen them since she was first arrested nine years ago. Every day she has been experiencing anxiety attacks that make it difficult to deal with life stressors upon being released. CLIENT STRENGTHS Bobbi Jo is slowly making friends with other women reading in her sober living halfway house and she continues to maintain her sobriety.
