Self-Awareness
Self-Reflection and Growth
I use Self-Reflection to learn
from my experiences (both
good and bad) to make myself
into a better nurse and leader.
I
am promoting my self-growth
by becoming the manager of my
ER and withing the last month
began classes here at WGU to
obtain my master's degree.
Self-Management
Goal Setting, Stress
Management
I constantly set goals for myself.
My current goals are to
complete my master's degree
within a year and obtain my
CEN this month.
Working in and
managing an ER is stressful.
When I begin to feel
overwhelmed, I step away,
usually outside and take a few
deep breaths.
Interpersonal Communication
Compassion and Teamwork
The patients I care for in the ER
are usually having the worse
day of their lives and are scared,
I keep this in mind while caring
for them and remaining
compassionate even when they
or family are angry or
belligerent.
We always have
each other's back in the ER.
Critical patient, it is all hands-on
deck, and we all pitch in for the
best care and outcome.
Another nurse falling behind or
needs help passing meds or
getting an IV, someone is always
there to help.
Executive Function
Critical Thinking and Problem
Solving
In the ER I constantly use critical
thinking and problem solving.
I
need these skills with every
emergency that comes through
my door.
I also need these skills
when solving staffing issues.
