3-2 Practice Activity Research Ethics and Design
Lauren Merchant
SCS-285
Module 3
1.Standford Prison Experiment
The initial design issue in this experiment is the demographics of the experiment, young males. This alone could throw off the experiment as it limits the validity of the results. If subjects were chosen based on various other qualities such as various age ranges, the experiment wouldn’t have
been as questionable. The lack of education and instruction of the purpose or guidelines of “jail guards” contributed to the ethical dilemmas within the experiment. Since there was no guidance these individuals made up the rules and regulations that were especially humiliating or unnecessary causing the prisoners to rebel. The guards then used the inmates against each other to further add to the ethical dilemma, so much so that “These authoritarian tactics and the psychological abuse sustained by the prisoners had a profound effect, and the prisoners became convinced that they were not free to leave.” With proper research prior to the experiment some issues could have been resolved in order to complete the whole two week experiment instead of ending it after six days. By Zimbardo getting involved in the experiment that eliminated the control and independent variables of the experiment and allowed the participants to be involved in all aspects. 2.
“John/Joan Case” Research Study
The design of this research was flawed as it wasn’t constructed out of need or without significant
prior research, it was done out of convenience. By performing a “unnecessary” gender
assignment surgery without considering or factoring in long-term health and mental health implications. Also, an ethical issue is that this child did not consent to having this procedure or life altering decision to be part of Dr. Moneys research. Inaccurate findings were brought on by allowing this individual to believe they were female when they were born genetically male. Dr. Money did not prove his theory. 3. “Behavioral Study of Obedience” Research Study
The amount of deception in this study caused both ethical and design flaws. The participants believed they were causing harm to learners (actors) by experiment. The experiment was the wrong use of authority. The actors were directed to deliberately answer wrong. This altered the outcome of the results creating false results while also creating a bias of any data collected in this
study. An immense amount of pressure was placed on the instructors as they were forced to continue the experiment at all costs.

According to Schinzinger (1996), engineering as a social experimentation is not an experiment conducted solely in a laboratory under controlled conditions. Rather, it is an experiment on a social scale involving human subjects. Discuss your view on this statement.

Case Study (Quarantine Center Management System)As you know now a days the world is going through the COVID-19 pandemic. People are getting themselves tested to see if they have corona virus or not. If they have positive result they are being isolated in Quarantine Centers for 14 days and if recovered, they are sent to their homes with safety precautions (same for negative results they are sent to their homes).
In view of this scenario, you must use structured programming concepts to manage the patients in quarantine center.
Now let’s see the management in center:
There is a Quarantine Center in which Patients are admitted in case they are declared positive with Corona Virus after having a test. To do so, there is a structure named Quarantine_Center having data member(s) center_id, location, quantity_of_beds (should be defined by default i.e. 20), no_of_patients and contact number. Patient contains patient_id (unique), first_name, last_name, gender, age and blood_group. A Patient also…

In this course, you learned key concepts and tools used in machine learning. Obviously, this field cannot possibly be
covered in one course, regardless of length or learning modality. How would you describe your ability to relate the course
concepts to real-world problems? If presented with a problem or challenge, how confident are you that this course has
equipped you with the skills to build an appropriate machine learning model? If a particular machine learning topic of
interest has not been covered, to what extent has this course has equipped you with the ability to expand your
knowledge by learning on your own?

explain this state diagram ( state model )
The system enables the specialist and guardian to treat and follow up on autism disorder cases. The specialist can add exercises and diagnostic tests for the patient, print reports, and communicate with the guardian. The guardian can view the patient's progress, communicate with the doctor, and add reviews or notes.

How do you recognize the attitude of somebody towards something? FoxFirst wants to identify the team's attitude, and have put together a simulation so management can observe attitudes and behaviours Simulation: The Help Desk level 1 crew is overloaded with work. The second line were not very busy. The staff sat with nothing to do and enjoyed the obvious suffering of their colleagues. They didn’t make any attempt to support their colleagues and the level 1 crew didn’t take the initiative to ask for help. The result of the simulation was poor. Not enough situations were resolved, and resolution times were poor. • Reflect on the simulation outcomes and explain what you might discover about the attitude and behaviour within the organization. Examine the factors that may cause you to work inductively, although working deductively is your preferred choice. In your response include the research philosophy related to both deductive and inductive research approaches.
Demonstrate an extensive understanding to identify and discuss the different research philosophies related to both deductive and inductive research approaches.

Analyses and design may be compared to one other in the following way:
analyses incorporate people, whereas designs are focused on the end result
analyses and designs are different in that the former creates models, while the
latter does not
