2 Borrower Data Requirements I believe the most important information that would need to be accessed for borrowers would be STATUS, PLANNED_EXPIRATION_TIME, DISBURSE_TIME, and REPAYMENT_INTERAVAL. Each user will need access the the status of their requested loans and when the time to raise the funds will expire. This will allow the users to make plans to use the loans or reapply for a loan if securing the loan was unsuccessful. DISBURE_TIME will allow for precision planning by giving the expected arrival time of the loaned funds, while REPAYMENT_INTERVAL gives the borrower the expected timeline for repayment. The technology restrictions should allow for a simple interface that provides the needed information. With the limited screen space of a flip phone designed a table with the important information would work well. It would not take much to create and would take very little space. Each user would need to be able to access information about securing their loans and repayment timelines. Borrower Stories Most of the stories that are on Kiva’s website pertain to restocking items for small stores. I did see a few stories that were asking for funds to help pay for school fees or to help with livestock animals and feed. I do not think that the data requirements need to change. The four categories STATUS, PLANNED_EXPIRATION_TIME, DISBURSE_TIME, and REPAYMENT_INTERAVAL should allow borrowers to plan for unsuccessful and successful loans.
3 Borrower Datat Priorities With the technology restrictions, I believe having all of the information on a single screen would be most beneficial to the users. This would take up the smallest amount of memory and allow for the retrieval of important information quickly and efficiently. The layout of information should start with the status of the loan followed by the expiration time. The disbursement time and repayment intervals do not need to be filled unless the status of the loan is funded. Lender Data Requirements To make an informed decision on who the lenders choose to lend money they will need access to SECTOR_NAME, ACTIVITY_NAME, LOAN_AMOUNT, FUNDED_AMOUNT, and DESCRIPTION / DESCRIPTION_TRANSLATED. Along with information about borrowers, the lenders will also need access to the ACCOUNT_BALANCE. Lenders will need to be able to search and sort through all the borrowers to find what causes they would like to contribute to. The cloud-based system could be a simple design that shows multiple stories per page. They will need access to a search bar and a way to set filters. Since Kiva is a nonprofit organization the system will need to be simple and straightforward. Allow users access to the information needed to lend money to borrowers and access their account balances.
