Problem-Solving Skills 156 2901
Module #1 Writing Assignment
1.
How do you define the term "problem-solver"?
Do you consider yourself a
problem-solver?
Why or why not? Discuss in detail.
(You are welcome to
conduct research outside the course site)
I define the term problem solver as one who provides solutions. I do consider
myself as a problem solver. I learned that I was a problem solver when I realized
how much dysfunction was around me. If anyone has ever been in a dysfunctional
environment then they would know that dysfunction thrives in chaos which
typically includes a lack of solutions; only complaints and misery. Whether I was
ready or not I had to solve problems.
When I was in high school, I really started putting my problem-solving skills to
use. I did not know it at the time but, I had a teacher named Mrs. Kay that made
students write in their planners as a part of their grades. Writing in the planner
every day and planning out my time for assignments really helped with my
problem with time management and made me a conscientious student. I now use
foresight to assume what problems may arise a keep a mental note of what to do if
such problem(s) were to arise. I am a strategist at heart so I guess that would
make me more of an intuitive problem solver. In my professional life and the
"Organizational Leadership" certificate program I am currently enrolled in, I am
learning how to solve problems in a more systematic approach.

2.
Discuss the distinction between a "problem owner" and a "stakeholder".
The problem owner is responsible for the problem the moment someone
else asks them to help solve a problem. For example, my boss has
assigned me a task to find out how to configure POS (place of service)
codes in our electronic health records system because clinicians keep
clicking the incorrect POS codes, and it is affecting our billing.
This
problem was only assigned to me so I assumed the responsibility of
solving the problem.
If I am unable to deliver solutions to this problem, then our stakeholders
will be affected. Stakeholders are groups are parties who can be affected
by our business especially when problems occur that directly affect them.
In this case, our stakeholders would be payers, providers, and patients. If
the issue is not resolved then it will affect the billing cycles of the
providers which affect their pay. The insurance companies will not
reimburse our agency for services we have provided to patients. Lastly,
providers may become so frustrated that they resign which would lead to
another problem.
3.
By this point, you should have read all of the course materials, including the
2
syllabus and master assignment schedule.
After reviewing this information
do you feel you may have any challenges with meeting the deadline?
If so
consider this as "a problem" and compose a problem statement for your
situation.
If you do not think this will be a problem for you, then prepare a
one-paragraph hint which may be passed on to students who do feel they will
have challenges.
In other words, provide a problem-solving tip.
Meeting the deadlines in this class will not be an issue for me. I had already
missed one assignment which was the week one participation quiz, and I was very
upset about it.
I noticed that these quizzes were not on the syllabus, but only on
Blackboard. I created my own syllabus for the class which included the weekly
participation quiz.
I check off which tasks I complete to keep track of deadlines. I
update my personal syllabus as more modules are opened. Please see below.
I also have a planner to plan out homework time so that I can manage work,
school, and life.

Systems Analysis Assignment (Microsoft Word and Excel)
You and your team have been hired to set up a computer classroom for Tech United, Inc. An up
and coming tech startup who will like to become a tech training company.
Tech United, Inc. wants to offer various different kinds of tech training at their new office location.
They have only one classroom space available that can accommodate up to 30 students. The
classroom is already equipped with tables and chairs. The classroom, however, does not have any
computers, routers, projectors, smartboard etc. This is where you come in. The company has
$40,000 as a starting budget and will like for you to determine for them what
computers/keyboards/mouse/router/printer/smartboard etc. they should buy. You determine
based on their budget, how many of each item should be purchased for the classroom.

Facts:
Successful projects are managed well. To manage a project efficiently, the manager or development team must choose the software development methodology that will work best for the project at hand. All methodologies have different strengths and weaknesses and exist for different reasons. Here’s an overview of the most commonly used software development methodologies and why different methodologies exist. -Synopsys (Links to an external site.
