A program planning model is needed to ensure that all scopes of the intended program are outlined and that program goals are met. Looking at the different program models it is important to understand what a program is and how it can affect a business or healthcare organizations plan. “A program is a collection of projects that relate to one another, and are therefore managed together in order to achieve maximum efficiencies. The advantages of managing these similar projects make them stand better together than by themselves (Lopez, 2020).” When determining which program planning model to incorporate into ones course project it is important to understand the advantages and disadvantages as well as the similarities and differences. The program planning model I chose is the PRECEDE-PROCEED model. This model is intended to assess the health needs in implementing, evaluating and designing in health promotion (Crosby and Noar, 2011). The model can be broke down into to vital sections that determine the structure for planning and the structure for implementation. PRECEDE in this model is used to identify the structure for planning a targeted program while PROCEED is the structure for implementation (Crosby and Noar, 2011). The positive of this model is it provides steps to be followed throughout its course to make it easier for the program to stay on track. The negative aspect of this program goes hand and hand with the positive aspect to the program which is the precise instructions that are given to follow do not allow for adaptation if a problem were to arise. Comparing the PRECEDE- PROCEED model to the logic model one can see the similarities and the differences between the two models. The similarities are both models provide structure to an organization that is targeting specific populations and they help define the programs intended goals. The differences between two models are the PRECEDE-PROCEED model involves the community while the logic model does not and the logic model is a representation of how the program is supposed to work without allowing casual attributions to become a factor.
