Name: Josiah Humpleby Date: March 16 th 2023 Instructor’s Name: Asma Wasim Assignment: SCI203 Analysis of Energy Sources Lab Title: The Effect of Energy Sources on Environmental Pollution and Human Health Instructions: In Part, I of this form, record the data from the Unit 4 Lab: Analysis of Energy Sources. In Part II, follow the steps of the scientific method listed below to complete this lab report form. When this form is complete, please submit it in the submission area of the classroom. Part I: Using the Electrical Power Plant comparison, fill in the data table. You will use this information to complete your lab report in Part II. Energy Source Annual Net Power Generation (MWh) CO 2 Emissions (tons) Sulfur Dioxide, NOx, and Other Emissions (tons) Methane emissions (tons) Solid Waste Output (tons) Safety (# deaths from air pollution and accidents) Nuclear 19,959126 0 0 0 35 0.20 Natural Gas 1,880,832 797,711 3,457 28,200 2,000 5.31 Coal 14,049,804 16,267,643 620,929 3,806,661 200,000 345.91 Solar 101,965 0 0 0 0 0.0019 Biomass 31,540 719 493 3,368 13 0.146 Wind 884,986 0 0 0 0 0.031 Hydropower 477,853 0 0 0 0 0.012 Part II: Write a lab report using the following scientific method sections: Title: The Effect of Energy Sources on Environmental Pollution and Human Health Purpose o The purpose of this analysis is to make people more aware of their energy usage. Also, this table has been made available for future comparisons. Introduction o By using electromagnetic induction power plants can make electricity through means of wood coal oil water and nuclear power reactors. Renewable energy consists of using hydropower, water power, and solar power like solar panels. As a community, we should be conservative with our users as it directly impacts the rest of the world's energy costs.
Hypothesis/Predicted Outcome o I expect renewable enenergy sources to have zero waste in their energy production... Methods o So, I followed the link in the project 4 overview section. After that, I watched two videos regarding renewable and nonrenewable energy sources. Shortly after I was directed to each source and their usage information. Results/Outcome o Nuclear power had the highest to gain when it came to electrical power. Coal came in second to electrical power but first in co2 emissions. Natural gas came into 3 rd place in energy production and second place to co2 emissions. Discussion/Analysis o By looking at this data I can understand how renewable energy is used to help nearby houses and communities sustain normal functionality. For instance, I was taught that if you have a wind mill on your property you can use that to power your things or sell your power to the electrical grid. By doing this for our communities we learn the value in energy conservation and how it directly effects our competitors, because they pay whoever has the electricity.
