In the sphere of criminal justice, the psychological after effects of incarceration stretches past the prison walls, it affects not only the person who was incarcerated but their families as well. The point of this essay is to study the complex mental effects of being incarcerated. For those who were formerly incarcerated, going back into society poses a myriad of challenges. Those being Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, depression, loss of identity and alienation not only from family, but friends and the community as well. Incarceration not only affects the person who was incarcerated, but the family as well. Families of those who are incarcerated often face shame, grief, emotional turmoil and financial instability if the person incarcerated was the bread winner. The child of an incarcerated individual often face both academic and developmental difficulties. By probing these psychological consequences, we illuminate the entwined well-being of persons and relatives inside the justice system, supporting for updated procedures and sympathetic interpolations to foster therapeutic and pliability in affected societies. The article "Resilience and mental health among prisoners: a systematic review" offers a thorough examination of the correlation between resilience and mental health amid imprisoned individuals (Boschloo et al., 2023). It details strength as an important defensive factor against harmful mental health results in prison settings. The outcomes of the analysis accentuate the significant relationship amongst resilience and mental health with those who are incarcerated (Boschloo et al., 2023). By evaluating numerous resilience factors, such as affective coping mechanisms and support from the
