WORLD VIEW ESSAY

World View Essay A worldview is how one views various aspects of their life based on beliefs, cultures, religion, or in some cases philosophies. Worldview acts as a lens or filter in our life effecting how we view it (Weider & Gutierrez, 2014). The choices one makes are effected by a worldview
as well. As a Christian, one establishes a biblical worldview, which is a view of the entire world based on how God would want us to see it.

Part II: Articulation of the Biblical/Christian Worldview
In order to establish what type of worldview one may have, there are five different questions that can be used for this purpose. These questions are the questions of origins, identity,
meanings/purpose, morality, or destiny. A person’s beliefs and worldview will determine how these questions are answered. The example answers given are based from a Christian worldview perspective. A solid foundation can be found from a biblical standpoint (Esqueda, 2014).
The Question of Origins
The question of origin is probably one of the most controversial aspects of varying worldviews. Where humans come from? Were humans created, or did humans evolve? These are
just a few different questions that are answered in the question of origins. The bible tells us in Genesis 1:1 that we were created by God. John 1:3 also tells us that nothing came into existence without God. The Questions if Identity
Identity is also an important aspect of a biblical worldview. One must establish who he or
she is. Genesis 1:27 tells us that man was created in the image of God and that man reigns over other living creatures. As John 1:12 tells us, we are Gods children. God breathed the breath of life and in return we have a special purpose.

The Question of Meaning/Purpose
From a biblical worldview perspective we have a purpose to tell others about God. Matthew 28:16-20 tells us of what we as believers should do. We are to go spread the gospel of Christ. We are also to take care of what God created. Numbers 35:33 tells us that we need to take
care of our lands. We share the land God created with others. The bible tells us we should love our neighbors. We can do this taking into consideration how our treatment of God’s creation may
affect others (Sorley, 2011). The Question of Morality
Morality is a very big part of establishing a solid biblical worldview. Because man was created in the image of God, his image should show through our actions. Luke 6:27 – 28 gives a few examples of the actions that should be portrayed. As Christians we are to love our enemies, bless them, and also pray for them. Jesus showed love so we are to follow his example. Jesus was also sinless. We should also strive to avoid sin at all cost. James 4:17 tells us that if we know
good and do not do it, than it is a sin. The Question of Destiny
The question of destiny is based on where we a person will ultimately end up for eternity.
Where will we spend eternity? From a biblical worldview perspective the ultimate end is either eternal life in Heaven or Hell. God gave us free will to make our own choices, and according to Romans 6:23 our ultimate choices determine where we ultimately end up. In John 3:3 the bible tells us that we must be born again to enter into the kingdom of God. We must ask God to forgive us and make a change in our lives. This commitment is a choice that we as Christians must make.
