1. INTRODUCTION
Remember:
Thesis statement = topic + opinion on the topic
For this essay:
Thesis statement = argument you disagree with + your opinion on that argument.
Example: Topic
= graphic novels should not be used in K-12 classrooms
Opinion on topic
= this is a faulty argument because graphic novels can help children to learn in a number of ways.
Thesis statement
= An editorial in the New York Times
recently argued that graphic novels should not be used in K-12 classrooms, but the author of this piece failed to recognize the value of using graphic novels to teach children.
Your Topic:
Your Opinion on the Topic:
Your Thesis Statement:
Student loans has its drawbacks and should not be easily forgiven.
Although there are some drawbacks of forgiving student loans, the forgiveness program itself
will be extremely beneficial to students. According to two different articles about student loan forgiveness
, the authors Mulhere, Roll, Jabbari and Grinstein-Wei’s argued that student loan forgiveness has its many drawbacks and can lead to many ongoing issues, but failed to mention that forgiving students loans good outweighs the bad, being as though students and the economy benefits from it.

3. BODY
Summarize the opposition’s argument in one or two sentences.
Is there anything in the argument that you agree with? (this will be your concessions)
What is the first part of the opposition’s argument that you disagree with? Why do you think it is inaccurate or faulty?
One author believes that forgiving student loans does not address the main issues and will benefit the well off disproportionately. In addition, the other authors believe that’s forgiving student loans would only lead to more money being borrowed and more people being put in debt and not taking on their financial responsibilities.
Forgiving student loans does lead to more people borrowing money. As a result to this, there would be more debt for people, while also having a lot of money borrowed and wrote off.
I do not agree with the author’s comment when he stated that forgiving student loans will disproportionately benefit the well off. However, I believe that this is inaccurate because when student loans are forgiven, you must meet certain qualifications, to be approved for a loan forgiveness. In this case, they evaluate everyone’s situation, no matter if there is a financial issue or not and decides from many different factors.
