MLA Heading – Name, Professor Baeyens, English 101, Date Thesis Statement at end of Intro Paragraph Week 3 - Thesis Statement While this beautiful planet is called our home, people are causing huge problems with the environment and hurting the very place they live because oceans are being polluted, oil spills are occurring too often, and the forests are being destroyed.  Week 4 – 1 st Body Paragraph In the world today, marine life pollution is an expanding problem with the oceans being filled with trash and chemicals. Chemical contamination is detrimental to humans as well as marine life, the chemicals used on farms such as fertilizer run off into storm drains and straight into the ocean creating a toxic environment for the life there. Humans also swim in the ocean and these chemicals can be just as toxic to them as it is to the wildlife. Just like with plastic, it is non-biodegradable and then makes into the ocean where marine life eats it, gets tangled in it, or suffers injury due to the plastic. Fish are also caught and eaten, which will harm people in the long run if they encounter enough of it. The solution to this expanding problem is cleaning up the beaches, recycling and disposing of trash and not tossing trash on the ground, as well as doing research to see what can be done to help with the chemicals making their way into the ocean. Week 5 - Introduction Climate change could be irreversible by 2030. According to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) action is needed to avoid life changing effects of global warming. Without some changes, the oceans coral reefs will be destroyed, and more widespread flooding will occur along with extreme temperatures, and drought. While this beautiful planet is called our home, people are causing huge problems with the environment and hurting the very place they live because oceans are being polluted, oil spills are occurring too often, and the forests are being destroyed.  Conclusion Thus, the oceans must be kept clean and free of plastic/trash, do not overfill the ships oil reserve tank to prevent spills, and trees must continue to be planted to avoid the greenhouse effect whilst speeding up global warming. Although this lovely world is what is called home, people are seriously harming the ecosystem and the very place they raise their families by polluting the oceans, creating too many oil spills, and destroying the forests
