2 The Move After moving locations, Sparkling City Local Game Store has found its new home in “The Market on Everhart”, though this “isn’t the only new thing to become of the store”, Owner Jeffery Rodriguez said while being asked about the new location. The Store’s owner has now made it his goal to introduce new Everhart hobbyists to the joy of tournaments and card games, with this newest location the staff hopes that with the added traffic on Everhart and the benefit of being placed next to a grocery market will help to catch the attention of children, parents and travel-goers alike. On July 29th came the opening of the new location, and with the change of location of course comes the change in layout, as you approach the store now you are flooded with the casual noises of the road only 90 yards away as birds sing above in the scaffolds atop the breezeway where you walk. You enter through the tall wooden door, and are greeted by the smell of vanilla and new books, the sounds of cheerful gaming and conversations on new cards and rules echoes throughout the long room full of tables and chairs. This new location, with its history tied to cowboys and hipsters alike, strives to give the feeling of eaze to its patrons, “I honestly enjoy the new place better! The compactness of it all makes me feel like a little sardine, but in a good way!” says local Charmichael Valadez. The History of ‘The City’ In 2010, Sparkling City started as a humble little collector's card store in a backlot near the outskirts of Corpus Christi, where founder Jeffery Rodriguez decided to finally reach for his dream of owning his own game store, this location was relatively popular and eventually led to an expansion of products. In 2012, the store began to sell one of its most popular products beside cards, sourcebooks and adventures for 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons, this later became 5th edition in 2015, and in 2013 the store became an official member of the Pokemon League, now being able to run official and sponsored tournaments.
