Molibetsane Thetsane Mrs. Jaycox ENG 0930 XA02 14 April 2023 Social Media I am not really into social media because the only social media platforms I use are WhatsApp, Snapchat, and YouTube. The reason I use WhatsApp is to communicate with my friends and family back home. WhatsApp is the most popular used communication app in my country hence why I use it to communicate easily with friends and family back home since everyone uses it back home. As for Snapchat, I started to use it when I arrived in the U.S. because we communicate with my teammates on Snapchat. Personally, I don’t like Snapchat because I feel like sometimes it’s a waste of time for someone to just send you a picture for no reason. I only started using it because I had to otherwise, I was going to miss out on important team talk information. Moving on to YouTube, I use it to watch my favorite drama show called Muvhango. Since it’s an African drama show I cannot watch it anywhere in the U.S. TV platforms hence why I use YouTube to catch up with the drama daily. As for other platforms like Instagram and Twitter, I don’t have a good reason to use them because I already communicate with my friends and family on WhatsApp. The other reason I don’t like Instagram and Twitter is because whatever you post can be exposed to the world however on WhatsApp what I post can only be seen by my contacts on WhatsApp. Using social media platforms many people are posting bad things on social media like naked pictures which can affect their future when applying for a job or school for instance. At my school, we had a student who was denied by a university because of the content he posts on social media.
